They took a massive hit by the Russia-Ukraine war as several important groups disbanded to go fight in it, long-form content got seriously less popular because of tiktok, discussion on the internet is getting more tightly controlled so many young people aren't even aware of them, there's a lot more illegal streaming sites they 'compete' with as they can be easier to use, torrenting is harder on phones where people spend more of their time now...
