In my opinion, the old skull design is the best version. It's scary, looks very menacing and violent but it's also mysterious because it looks like a human skull so it makes you think about it's origins. I dislike how they made their head more opaque later and that's the design everyone knows.

It only falls down at the part where they all fall down, they think that the final act should be some kind of showdown with an even more EXTREME xenomorph variant, and Romulus was the worst one at this yet. Alien3 is the only one that avoided this fully. Ironically Alien Covenant did the best at making a final act twist that worked, but had other problems before that.
