The book is very good and most of what's visualized in the movie is the unhinged rant of a man who couldn't fuck her imagining her life. In the movie it's played straight and needlessly mean spirited. That awful ending wasn't in the book. Read the book. Ignore the movie. The movie is so, so shitty.
