Okay now that some time has passed and the dust has begun to settle.

WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?
>>
>>214733619
priced the dinks while at the same time not being that impressive and coof
>>
>>214733619
They were thinking of money.
Not how to make money, simply thinking of the money they'd assuredly make.
>>
from inside the Disney temple, it must be hard to believe that anything the company does can fail spectacularly.
>>
It's honestly a mystery. Did they really believe they would be able to constantly book full sessions of superfans for $6,000 for a 3 day stay forever? I took my fiance on a tour down the Amalfi Coast in Italy last year for a 10 day trip that was roughly that price, except we stayed in actual luxury accommodations with fine dining and tourist attractions scattered all over. It just doesn't seem realistic in the slightest that a niche and absurdly expensive product which was essentially just a Star Wars LARP would have any kind of lasting appeal once the superfan market got it's fill, it's frankly shocking they made such a huge miscalculation.
>>
>>214733619
Millennial cat ladies thought this was a good idea and they're retards with no life experience.
>>
Most of the people in charge of megacorps like this are all nepobabies that don't have a real grasp on the world because they've never had to live in it. They make huge retarded decisions like this because they do not understand their customers whatsoever
>>
>>214733619
really fucking stupid to make a Hotel in disneyworld that has a 2 night compulsory stay, no more no less.
People will travel from allover the world to disneyworld, probably for 2 or 3 weeks, and they dont want to unpack/repack their luggage and deal with the faff of moving hotels more than once.

Imagine making a star wars hotel that you can use for 2 weeks. Themed rooms etc. Probably be their most popular hotel.

Star Wars franchise:

“Please Disney, stop raping me! My prolapsed anus is about to rip open and I’ll bleed out and die!”

Disney:

“Shut the fuck up, bitch!! You’re gonna die anyway, might as well enjoy having your anus ripped to shreds by my greedy faggot dick!”

Exactly this, OP.

>Make the entire galaxy's edge based around the sequels
>Sequels are horribly unpopular so Disney abandoned them when it comes to side materials in favor of post-OT stuff
>But still insist on keeping Galaxy's Edge themed around Batuu because their pride is just too intense for them to change it
Are they just hoping that people might still change their mind on the sequels at some point? They do realize that only happened with the PT not only because it had an actual solid foundation, but had tons of games and shows meanwhile Disney's done basically nothing except that Resistance cartoon and doesn't put out games anymore

Third class on the Titanic had more room than the "luxury suites" on the Galactic Starcruiser.

I'm sure people loved paying $60 to pinch out green shits.

It's been making the news rounds for a while now that Disney has been exclusively hiring "Disney Adults" for the last 20 years or so. Which means there is a very real "lunatics running the asylum" issue plaguing the company, where the company is staffed by literal cultists who bring no outside viewpoints or idea what non-mentally ill people want, and psychologically lack the ability to critique, dislike, or say no to anything their God the Walt Disney corporation and its divinely mandated managerial class does.

There IS a couple million people in the 1% here in the US... so it's not like there wasn't an audience. They just gave up.

Everyone hates the sequels, mouseshill.
Tell Disney they should have just made a normal hotel based on Naboo, Coruscant, Bespin or any other planet from movies people actually liked. Just have the windows be screens displaying the local scenery and you're golden.

Being this retarded

There's no dust to settle, faggot.
>>
>>214735992
They could have made the whole hotel be inside a skybox so that the simulated windows are all looking out to the same screens with a believable parallax effect. The building would have had to be bigger but the effect would be unmatched.

Clearly, it started development early in Disney's purchase of the Star Wars franchise. They pitched and green-lit all their ideas for how to monetize their new IP, except that they also were dead set on scrubbing any mention of existing Star Wars names/characters except the purely unavoidable essentials. In conjunction with Galaxy's Edge, all of this trash was built around familiar-but-different ideas that would feature the first of the sequel trilogy as its core. I think it was pretty obvious to Disney, that by the time they knew they should shutter the project in its entirety, they had spent far too much time and money to bin it without it seeing its debut.
Let's just ignore that this wasn't an isolated incident either. Galaxy's Edge itself is still rather underdeveloped and hasn't been very well received. And adding on the movies, they managed to tank the entire franchise.

It's hilarious how quickly they went from this to full memberberries once the nuWars character merch didn't sell.

Counterpoint: Disney should just make Coruscant. Buy up half of Wyoming and make a mega city
Everyone would want to go see it. Not even disney cultists

This is one of the rare times they were wrong because $6000 is a lot of money..

Retards probably would have paid a lot for a weird Star Wars hotel but making it revolve around a failed larping experience for ten times the price...

Walt tried that in the 1960s and then he died before it could be built. That's why Disney owns so much land in Florida but they only developed a little bit of it. Disney World was supposed to be one attraction that got people to visit Epcot City but they didn't build the rest of it.

The big mistake was making Galaxy's Edge "canon compliant" and even worse doing it in the ST that no one gives a shit about. People wanted to see Luke and Vader and Obi-Wan, not some literally who blue-haired sheboon

Most of them are childless and living off handouts (e.g. gaming the system on SSI) and/or still living with their parents so they have few to no actual expenses.
>>
You know it really is kind of impressive. In less than ten years Disney has successfully managed to completely destroy one of the biggest, most popular, and most influential pop culture behemoths in entertainment history. Star Wars used to be one of the big kings of sci-fi media and now it's a complete joke.
