It's pretty funny that the four hobbits are Sam, who's a gardener and a manservant, and then basically three aristocrats. Merry and Pippin come from the two most venerable families in the Shire and Frodo was fucking loaded and rich thanks to Bilbo.
It's known that Hobbits practised buck breaking in some parts of the Shire - Buckland is named after the practice, as are the Brandybucks.
