Dude needs a big Diehard-level hit, otherwise he is going to become another Channing Tatum

Pedro Pascal stole his thunder

why is he squinting at me?

Two things are hurting him. One is that he isn't part of some large IP franchise with everything being IP driven now. This might be a good thing of course if he is able to keep leading successful movies even if they aren't gigantic hits as long as he can pick and choose the roles he wants I guess.

Second is that he is either gay or he is scared to date other celebs. All the big stars of his gen, and the gen before him, dated other famous actresses, models, or celebs and he doesn't. It is hurting his overall celebrity not doing that. There is a reason Chalamet started banging Kylie Jenner as soon as he was trying to campaign for an Oscar. It is all part of playing the entertainment game in Hollywood.
