When to stop watching this?Just watched Dexter Season 5 first episode. S5 doesn't look very promising. Looks like slop writing is taking place.
>>214737273Season 5 starts bad but ends okay, its season 6 where the real nose dive begins.
>>214737273Season 5 is pure filler. It's not as bad as season 3, but it's a good point to stop watching.
>>214737273Watch the whole thing, pussy. The show has an actual ending and an epilogue.
Astor was a cute, wish she could make a return

>>214737653
>>214737670ITS ALL YOUR FAULT YOU FUCKING FAGGOT
>>214737273S5 is alright imo. Poses a new different dynamic with Rita out of the picture and the new girl plus Dex taking down the rapist ring, decent main villain. S6 is mostly terrible and disappointing but if you push through it or skip, S7 is personally one of my favourites. I'd say just dont bother with 8, all of it sucks. New Blood has its moments but very mehh. Resurrection is pretty fun, worth a watch
>>214737273i'm in the same situation; i binged the first four seasons but felt an inexplicable lack of motivation to watch past s5e1. it feels like s4 is where the show ended, and the rest is just a prolonged postscript.
>>2147372735 and 6 aren't as good as season 4, they were never going to top that, but still as good as season 3. Past that? Complete shite.
>>214737273you can stop now if you don't feel any will to watch season 5 already. no one in their right mind will tell you season 5 is worth watching. people will say stick it out so season 7 because the villain is great, and to an extent they are right in a vacuum, but the story around the antagonist is handled so poorly. you can just skip to the sequel series and won't miss anything of note
>>214737273I been marathoning it for the first time since its release and season 8 is far worse than I remember it's borderline unwatchable. They should have ended s6 with Deb shooting Dex and then herself.
>>214737699Killing off Rita is legitimately a terrible story decision. It killed my enthusiasm to keep going on my first run-through too. The rest are worth watching but it's just such a terrible direction to take the show at that point for what is admittedly a very shocking moment.
>>214738026Pretty much, Dex as a single dad just doesn't work. The cunt disappears for days on end and nobody seems to care what he is doing. Especially not his boss who's sister happens to be his nanny? She would have 100% complained to Batista about him having to repeatedly "work late" until 3am.
>>214737273Seasons 5, 7, and New Blood are all in the same 7/10 tier as Season 3, in my opinion. It’s Seasons 6 and 8 that are mediocre, with Season 8 having a disastrous ending.
>>214738026ngl i actually like it as a decision. having dexter's normal life be permanently fucked in some way by his serial killer life was something that always needed to happen, and the reveal scene itself was pretty good, but the way it's handled is absolutely momentum-killing for the show, and so trying to just pick it up and keep going after that comes off as weirdly disjointed.
>>214738255The whole point of having a family is so no one would suspect him. Being a single father with no hobbies, social life or any interests that disappears frequently or constantly stays out until the early hours of the morning is a massive red flag. And you're right. Jamie would have definitely bitched about Dexter constantly going out late to Batista at some point, even if she really liked Dexter and her job. Her being the babysitter that's always happy to work late or stay back hours is just plot convenience and avoids any of the familial responsibilities Dexter should have had to balance.
>>214738338It's a story ending kind of decision. It should've been the finale to the series. After years of trying to balance his dark passenger and family Dexter finally finds someone he thinks manages it, inserts himself into their lives to see how it works and it ends up costing him his family as he learns how much more they've come to mean to him and are no longer just a cover. >but the way it's handled is absolutely momentum-killing for the show, and so trying to just pick it up and keep going after that comes off as weirdly disjointed.Agreed.
>>214737273never, its all goodback then we were blessed with really good shows and some of Dexters seasons didnt hold up in comparisonevery single episode of Dexter looks like god himself descended from the heavens to deliver you a miracle masterpiece of storytelling compared to what we get today
>>214737273S5 and 6 are mid. S7 picks it up again and S8 is mixed. The first half of S8 is decent but goes off mid way.
>>214737273End of s1, I regret finishing s1 and starting s2 honestly
>>214737273I would stop at the end of S5. To be honest, it begins to get gradually shitter after S3
>>214738255Batista back then would just think he is chasing tail and wouldn't judge.
enjoyed most seasons but season 6 was sort of bleh. that nepo hanks fucker is an awful actor
