Just watched The Home, pretty shitty honestly, there's like 20 minutes of explaining a very simple plot near the end, then 5 minutes of mediocre killings. Boring, clearly thinks it's smarter than it is, and not stupid in a fun way.

V/H/S/Beyond and It Follows strike the same chord. It's the same lubricious madness, bathing in blood, the Universe seeping in and not necessarily making sense. It takes on the form of the divine feminine, possibly with implications that the Universe itself is a woman in a Spinozian pantheist sense and that The Entity is her avatar, out of place in our Apollonian patriarchal world. In the case of It Follows, it was pure “scratch the Universe and who knows what the fuck will come out”.
For tasteless /hor/tards that prefer the original, V/H/S/Beyond just looks like a bunch of robot Indian women (gay) dancing to a soundtrack that isn't black metal, and that's as deeply as they engage with it. Shocking that these Cheeto-y chuds don't get it; as years go by, it will be re-evaluated as one of the best horror films in cinema history, while the themes I've mentioned will be explored further in books and scholarly journals.

28 Weeks Later is like a roller coaster of shit and good scenes. I think the main problem is none of the main characters are very likable, and everyone keeps making too silly or dumb mistakes.
considering they're doing 28 Years Later I would love to see a french movie about the paris outbreak, it would be neatly confined to a single little story about the outbreak and how it was contained.

>>214774425
very mixed bag, but if you like the format I think they're mainly good.
>>
>>214778263
It doesnt even need to be RE, as long as they can pace everything out itd be fine, theyve made standalones of 2 of the segments before already so with a bigger budget I feel like theyd make something cool.

At times feels undercooked, but contains some undeniably great moments. It's almost less of an art film than his others and feels more pulpy.
I think it is less praised just because in Lynch's next film Mullholland Drive all his weird stars finally aligned. MD was both beautifully incoherent and perfectly coherent at the same time.

The first one sucks (even the first segment that everybody inexplicably praises) but the second one is great, three of its four segments are all-time classics and the other one is at least decent. V/H/S 94 is also worth watching, but do yourself a favor and only watch the first half.

If you're going to do a pandemic horror, you need a decent sized cast of extras. Like you have to really feel the threat of what would happen if the virus went global. The Thing works because it has an excuse for the isolation, but you still feel the urgency of what will happen if it escapes.
The best zombies for small casts are "no more room in hell" supernatural zombies, because they've already justified themselves as fear invoking.

I just watched this yesterday because it gets recommended here so often. Thought it was going to be a meme since most found footage films are bottom of the barrel trash. However, to my surprise this genuinely felt like I was watching some random abandoned YouTube channel with less than 200 views per video. I was fully expecting jump scares and there were none. It was bizarre and creepy without any the bullshit. Only thing I didn't like was the ending, and it wasn't even bad, just felt a bit rushed.
