>all kinos

Just imagine if Lynch could have been that productive.
>>
Why don't zoomers like Bergman?

I wish I could find friends who liked Bergman. All my friends actively avoid films with substance in favour of capeslop/comedyslop/romanceslop/horrorslop/cartoonslop.
I feel like I've found a real treasure trove in Bergman's body of work. Every film makes me feel a bit of that long gone childlike curiosity and magic, and like there's something more to the world than my monotone incel wagie life.

I like Ingmar Bergan, particular his film The Serpent’s Egg, which, despite not being one of his best movies, is an outstanding insight into the construction of the totalitarian mindset all the same. The Serpent’s Egg is a movie about the incubation of Nazism through the years from 1923 to 1933. During those years, the egg of the serpent was slowly opening, and giving birth to the monster.

Favorite Bergman kinos anon?

lol this reads like a You say Kanye West I say the beatles type of comment. Just out of curiosity I am aware of his work but I've only seen Persona Wild Strawberries and The Virgin Spring. Any recommendations, personal favorites? maybe lesser known overlooked ones?

>this reads like a You say Kanye West I say the beatles type of comment.
You're right, and I'm aware, but I still feel the need to say it, and feel justified in doing so.

Winter Light is a favorite of mine for just laying out all the religious themes he wrestled with and continued to wrestle with. Apparently he thought it was his best work.

I really like Vargtimmen, Hour of the Wolf, as well. His take on horror.

That’s awesome, check out:
>Autumn Sonata
>Virgin Spring
>Shame
>Fanny and Alexander
I’ve never seen The Silence, I’ll watch it soon

His films are charged with negative emotions that he couldn't express in real life during his time. Zoomers are free to express such emotions on social media any time they want so there is no need for someone like Bergman.

Bergman is untouchable in terms of quality and quantity. True genius level output.

No you are justified, finding friends to discuss cinema with that actually have the same tastes can be quite hard.
>>214776511
bad take

Thanks anon, I've actually torrented them all or torrenting as we speak.

All kino. Wild Strawberries is one of the best films ever made. So is Winter Light. I recommend Scenes From A Marriage, maybe the most modern work he ever made. It's long but excellent. Or wait until you're a boring adult and watch it with your wife over the course of several nights lol.
>>

I think Winter Light is his best work. A personal favorite of mine. It's so serious but sincere, dramatic but so everyday it heightens the intensity.
>>

sounds like a hopeful film, if only it had a good ending where NS persisted for a thousand years and spread across the whole of Europe
>>
>>214775584
why does film have to be shared? you can eat a good meal without feeling the need to talk about it with someone else who likes it, so why is film different?
>>
>>214775584
aren't tthey all black and white moody art pieces?
never seen one - the closest is the bit at the end of last action hero

Mmm, we make friends and judge people's character based on their tastes.

all these are great (Autumn Sonata is my favorite)
However you can't leave out Scenes from a Marriage + Saraband (the sequel) which are amazing.

Also not quite as amazing but still worth seeing:
>The rite
>The Magician
>Sawdust & Tinsel (cuck kino)
>From The Life of Marionettes (serial killer kino)
>Summer Interlude
>After the rehearsal

I also enjoyed his "The Magic Flute" but I wouldn't say it's a must watch.

I also downloaded "All these women" of his forever ago, but have yet to watch it.

>moody art pieces
Bergman's movie are basically dialog wall to wall.
They're very dense even if they're short, you have to pay attention.
Persona is the only one that's a bit more artsy in the classic sense.

Also films like Cries & Whispers, Fanny & Alexander and All these women are amazing with their colors.
Autumn sonata too.

I preferred the "Filmed theater!" bait.

>>214776967
hopefully one day I'll force myself to wartch one.
used to catch interesting films late on television, but that was a long time ago
