I can see finding parts of it boring or not thinking it lives up to its reputation, but when people talk about it not living up to that reputation I feel like they make it out to be this dull, heady, slow movie when it's mostly just an enjoyable gangster film with a good character arc at the center of it.

There are movies I like that are slow enough that I would understand seeing a lot of people say that the film is boring, but The Godfather being one that always gets mentioned as boring is always odd to me.
