I dont know why I thought this would get better after they wasted an entire episodes time and budget on a orgy.

Season and the twist so fars been predictable and I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing.
Twist could’ve probably benefited from being revealed by episode 4 since the pacing of the season is all over the place.
Only “big thing” I can see Gunn doing in the final two episodes is a Nazi superman cameo.
Bit annoying that it feels clear they didn’t have enough material for a full 8 episode season so a lot of the episodes feel shorter than season 1, which just makes me feel like the script could’ve done with some more refining for a solid 6 episode season instead of a dragged out 8 episode one.

Gunn's original idea for S2 was to have white supremacists try and kill Peacemaker for killing White Dragon. Gunn clearly sees the tv shows as a way to include his hatred for the right that he couldn't get away with in a movie. He often refers to Peacemaker as the project where he is allowed to do whatever he wants. (unlike with movies, where there is oversight)

He even said he faced pressure from WB not to do what he has planned for the last 3 episodes, but he pushed ahead anyway.

I sincerely believe you could cut half the episodes and make no discernable changes in the plot line. It feels like we have had multiple episodes of wheel spinning to get to this point and then it's a cheap cameo and twist everyone saw coming. I would be forgiving if the twist happened a few episodes ago because I'd expect more action to come but for some reason Gunn felt it necessary to repeat the "team are fucked up post season 1" for most of the season. Vigilante has been screwed most of the season too and I'm glad he at least had something this episode.

In the DCU we're already in the trap of having shows/seasons of shows where the goal is to advance the plot and set certain in-universe events into motion with little attention given to character development. Peacemaker is the titular character of the show. How has he grown at all this season? If anything, he's regressed. The narrative of season 1 consisted of Chris embracing his heroism, overcoming regret, and learning to trust. Season 2 has him return to a childlike state, quite literally living with family again. He abandons his friends. He is remarkably ignorant about the new world he chose to inhabit.

It can be argued that Harcourt is learning to be vulnerable and honest. Economos is coming out of his shell and growing a spine. Vigilante's arc will probably deal with overcoming abandonment/betrayal and learning forgiveness. Adebayo is useless. But Chris... what even is this arc? I'm rooting for him because John Cena's great but this is probably Gunn's weakest character work so far.

They keep doing the ominous pan around at the people in the other dimension like there was something wrong with them but I didn't get it. It didn't even click to me that it was 'weird' that everyone was white. Americans are so funny with the way they view the world
