Perfect example of how sparse, linear, and bash-you-over-the-head with a few character points in the recent film is: "Hey look how popular with the girls Jimmy One-Note is", (for some non-obvious reason), by having a couple of chicks giggling across the room. Otherwise that scene does little but demonstrate Clark can't make the time to talk to his dumbshit Earth parents, and Lois is a cunt who doesn't give a shit about hinting at his secret identity in a room full of reporters because she's pissy about him granting himself an interview. Oh and he does walk through the crowded sidewalk to provide footage for the trailers of Cornsweat as Clark Kent.

The trick is not just to establish character traits like 'woman at Daily Planet has tits', but relationships between characters, and in the Reeve scene how every character feels about every other character has been downloaded into your brain subconsciously by the end with surprising efficiency. They even take the time to repeat character names so you're left in no doubt who is who. It's not that necessary in a Superman movie, but something that's becoming a lost art and why you can't remember character names in a lot of modern slop - they're not reinforced by the writer. Generally good practice for people you're just meeting for the first time.

What was the name of the woman with tits in the Gunn-slop again? What relevance did she have? What did any of the other characters think of her or what did she think of them? Why should you care when you suddenly see her celebrating at the end and remember she exists, besides the tit bounce?

Yeah this is it, you can tell from how his big speech in the movie is a really self conscious attempt to make Superman more relatable and human. It was such a waste too that they cast a whole Daily Planet newsroom and then Clark/Superman barely interacts with them. Superman and Jimmy have one exchange of dialogue in the whole film and it's not even a conversation. Gunn making Superman's relationship to his birth parents and Krypton irrelevant was the worst part.
