My idea for a Wicker Man sequel/reboot

Title: Summerisle
Plot:
Summerisle in the year 2025/early 2026. We get a glimpse of how the island has managed to survive into modernity, while the rest of the world has moved onto the digital age and become more cosmopolitan Summerisle still clings onto its traditions becoming an Arcadia for those with pagan beliefs inviting those from the outside world via the internet to come and join them.
The current acting head of Summerisle is the grandson of Christopher Lee's version. This version grew up on tales of how Lee's version practically saved the island from ruin and decline following Howie's sacrifice, which has become a new national holiday known as The Festival of the Fool. An anniversary is coming up and the current Summerisle hopes to reignite the whole process as a way to save whatever hold he has on his people.
Meanwhile, the islanders have grown disenchanted with the acting Lord Summerisle and instead started worshipping a new priestess, one who actually hears the old Gods and is able to perform miraculous miracles. I haven't decided if Beetle Girl, or May Morrison's daughter or granddaughter yet.
As the Festival of the Fool approaches and Lord Summerisle feels his power and hold on the people slipping away he tries to make one last gamble to appease the people and the old Gods by bringing in an outsider to sacrifice much like his grandfather did.
However, on the fated day he learns that he has been pranked by the entire village and their new matriarch. The fool is not the outsider like he wanted he to believe but the fool this time is none other than Lord Summerisle himself.
Summersiel is hoisted into a wicker man structure on the day of festival but tries to appease the old gods into saving him by singing an old song as he's slowly burned to death mirroring Howie's sacrifice.

Some are better than others for that. Generally the ones with a documentary crew written into the plot are there to point out you're getting steadycam not shakycam

I saw Razorback last night for the first time. What a gorgeous looking film. Also on the topic of cinematography, why is it that horror films are often incredibly well shot? Objectively speaking horror is bottom of the barrel in terms of genre, but then you have movies like The Exorcist, the Evil Dead trilogy, The Omen, Braindead, etc. where filmmakers just go god mode for whatever reason.
>>
>>214823851
I wouldn't have hesitated, roll credits right there
>>
>>214824108
Yeah I can't watch a lot of them either but there's a whole load of them I can watch. Most of the motion sickness ones all you're missing is visual noise and heavy breathing
Most of the ones without that as a way to build tension, because they're generally documentary styled, have enough dialogue you could listen to them as radio plays, so generally when you're cutting out the ones with shakycam, you're also getting a lot more plot/dialogue, not just a better picture
>>
>>214824030
No seriously, I like FF but it gets glazed like crazy here when it's not even top 5 in the genre. The Scooby Doo parody is even better for christ's sake
>>
>>214824361
Nta but I think it's because at the time it struck people as fresh and new. Back when it came out I was still a kid and I remember one of my friends loved it after seeing it in the cinema and was trying to sell me on it, and I couldn't see why you'd watch it if they never found the witch, because the alien lovers could do better than that and at least produce the ayyy
How hyped everyone was for a night vision movie of the woods with no witch made me distrust ff fags for the longest time. Especially because if I wanted to take them to look at art films of woods they'd be like, boring no. It's whether you were part of the hype when it first came out, like a lot of blockbuster albums and films it's not so much the quality of the thing itself as it is the impression the hype gave you

Thoughs on The McPherson Tapes and the 1998 remake? It seemed like prototype for every found footage movie that came after.
>>
>>214824189
By its nature, horror focuses a lot on the visual aspect, both for scares and atmosphere. It's easier to get that right when the story and acting doesn't require as much care
>>
>>214824361
Nigga it's #1 and no other ff comes close because they don't even try to feel authentic. All these years and a billion ff movies later and there's still nothing like bwp
>>
>>214824889
I liked both, but prefer the original. They're basically the same movie with some differences. The remake might put some off, given it has a black guy in it for a bit.
>It seemed like prototype for every found footage movie that came after
In the US, it basically is. Japan has some that predate it, like Psychic Vision: Jaganrei, that came out 1 year earlier in 1988.

I couldn’t recognize her too. Like shit. You can see that with age, not only did her looks fade, feminism and Hollywood woke brainwashing has turned her bitter and her facial expressions are those of a stereotypical feminist.
Even her new movies, she played some hag feminist action star and some woke character in Mad Max.
Bitch is a Hollywood woke dei experiment.
