>>214825154>but what language are they speaking when the French and Germans are talking to each other?I think the implication is that the occupiers can understand and speak French which is how they communicate with Rene but they as characters just can't do the accent.I vaguely recall a scene where the officers are all in Rene's cafe to discuss something but they're worried that Rene or the waitresses will overhear sensitive details of their meeting so they agree to have their conversation in German, which I guess would imply that they've typically been speaking French around the French characters up until then, just without the accent.I did prefer it when the characters did change accents though, like Michelle of the Resistance and Officer Crabtree switching from French to English when speaking to the British Airmen.
