Not as impressive and austere as The Master, TWBB, or Phantom Thread, but top of the dramedies for sure (Boogie Nights, Punch-Drunk Love, Inherent Vice). Final chase went a little too long, but otherwise 8/10.

just came back from the theather, my wife hated it, and i dragged her along without knowing anything about this because i like pta movies. hard to say what i think about this.for me the movie severely lacks in worldbuilding, i dont live in america but i know its not that fucking bad in there, the whole movie is a retarded leftist fantasy. leo's character was barely existant (he's just there for audience to follow the plot) and the daughter didn't get enough characterization either. del toro was too reddit for me, sean penn was the best actor here. good music. terrible first 20 mins. its a better inherent vice basically.

Lacking in pathos, sean penns character was bad. His henchmen were good. The factionalism was boring and trite. The best sequence was from the dojo to bobs arrest, but it was just children of men with no gravitas. It is essentially a lukewarm cartoon without the strongly stylized characters of scott or the authenticity of mann. A safe gen x hipster misfire signaling more novelty than it possesses.

Still, could just be a lesser know actor I'm not aware of.
