They should have made it that Dexter did turn himself in after all, at the same time Doakes was discovered, and everyone ignored him/thought he was pressured into a false confession by Doakes. Then he could think he was properly destined to be a serial killer and would never get caught, and they wouldn't have to retread this storyline two more times with LaGuerta and Angel.

He should've been there till the end of the series. Waste of potential.
>>214823296/tv/ has really turned the corner on Doakes, I'm proud of you. I'd like to imagine a timeline where he escapes, puts down Dexter, but ends up taking on his same code, becoming the new Bay Harbor Butcher, but with an ex-military tactical edge, and of course a zesty urban soundtrack. Dexter was already done after S2 and we needed some "new blood", not in the form of crybaby Harrison, but a street-smart urban vigilante warrior to compensate for Michael C Hall's autistic asexual charisma-vacuum.I'm talking full BLADE here, with a katana and throwing knives and a black trenchcoat. Maybe instead of using a boat he has a submarine, maybe one of those mini-subs used by the cartels to transport drugs, confiscated by the Miami police. Dexter was just a prelude to DOAKES, he always wears sunglasses (his vision is augmented), and he also breakdances after he takes down a serial killer. His nemesis initially appears to be Lundy, the federal pedophile who fucks Debra because she looks like a teenage boy, but later we learn that he feeds Doakes secret intel because he knows Doakes is so based.
>>214823296Doakes would've filled up his bucket so fast and then Dexter would've gotten a SHITPRISE MOTHAFUCKA
>>214825152instead of dexter's inner monologues, it's just rap music
>>214825256Dexter X Ghost Dog, I feel you.
>>214824481He was such a good character precisely because he was such an in-your-face foil to dexter, but the plot couldn't continue with both of them alive, and the show isn't called "Doakes"
>>214824481>>214825757They should have had Dexter frame Doakes, then Doakes gets a subplot about being a fugitive trying to prove his innocence.
