I go to basically every movie by myself unless its the rare occasion where my Mom or sister wants to go too. It doesn't bother me and I see other people doing it pretty frequently too. I think theaters are missing out on an opportunity to make money appealing to solo movie goers. I go to a local independent theater that does curated screenings. A lot of people go to these movies by themselves and I recognize a lot of people as fellow regulars. We all clearly have similar taste in films, but no one seems to actually know each other. Everyone just gets up and leaves the theater after without talking to anyone. I have a similar experience at my local theater chains with Thursday opening screenings. I feel like theaters could make some money and attract more regular attendance if they had some kind of events after screenings where people could get drinks and discuss the film they just watched.
