>>214827009Its not the easiest concept to explain to normal fags. Also what are you going to do? Have a show about taking a day long elevator ride? Otherwise its just kind of a background thing. And even in sci fi with space elevators, they may be established and explained, but they turn into world building. Like in 3001. They build a space elevator in the kim stanley robinson mars books have them. It shows up in like 2 episodes of voyager, the one where neelix and tuvok are on an away mission when some natural disaster cuts them off, and the episode where Janeway learns her ancestor wasn't the person she thought she was, and banged the guy who opposed building the space elevator. Which doesn't make sense since you need to build it as close to the equator as possible, and we've seen earth in star trek, there are no space elevators. Not in enterprise, not in tos, not in TNG. Fun fact, on mars, the lower gravity means you could build a space elevator with conventional materials. You'd have to move the orbit of its moons.
