Didn't seem like he had some grand plan or wanted to do anything specific. What was the point of all that? That was all I could think about watching it.
>>
What would you have him do instead? His world is his world.

The world will make more sense once you realize that some psychos go above and beyond just to massively stroke their egos, there is no grand plan above that.
>>
>why did an american politician want to get the biggest most famous and consequential job a politician can get and will be remembered for
gee I dunno

He was obsessed with gaining more power.

He did it out of spite. He asked to be Secretary of State and WH told him "nah bro, you keep babysitting the faggots in Congress", he had his revenge and loved being boss.

this is perhaps one of the most profound things Ive read on this website and the world does make a little more sense. Thanks

Narcissists don't think about it

They just get their jollies off getting power over somebody

That's why they are over represented in positions like churches, healthcare, police, etc.

The original BBC version is much better.

One of the reasons may also answer your question. The original version (based on a book) was originally set to be a single series. The plot had a beginning, a middle, and and ending; and it fit together so well because it was a complete story.

The problem with your version is that they wanted to keep it going for multiple seasons. So they took away the end; which completely screwed up the overall flow and thematic continuity. Having the wife go on to be president is completely unreal; as it would be nearly impossible as laid out while also being possibly illegal; at least they way they did it.

I wonder if there are any differences between argentine and US politics. Impossible to say, no political scientist has every studied either place.

They tried it with "The Brady Bunch Goes to the White House". Through a fluke, Mike Brady becomes president and just names Carol Vice President (there is no process when you live in TV world)

>>214832909
Among other things, there are rules against the president and vice president being from the same state. So they can't simultaneously argue that her skill comes from contact while they both claim residence in different states

I'm watching this for the first time, and the tone shift from season 1 to 2 feels very extreme. It barely feels like the same show where it starts off with him giving bread crumbs to a news reporter while simultaneously holding power over her, to him climbing the ladder to become VP to President. The character dynamics also feel inconsistent, especially with him and his wife. I'm only on S4, but the sudden fall out because some book author wrote a few words of how they're "equals" seems silly.
>>
>It's a Frank literally throws the secretary of state down a flight of stairs in the White House episode

Should have stopped watching then and there.

Exactly like all other politicians.
>>
>this character from season 1 who holds some convoluted secret on how the president killed someone will surely have a pay off
>kill her in some random New Mexico desert after multiple episodes of being pointless drama
>this other character who has a connection to one of the victims of the president will surely have a good pay off
>become absent for a whole season and come back just be called a schizo and try to shoot the president when nobody listens to you
Awesome developments
>>
Was Frank on his PSP unironically the hardest you've laughed at a tv show in the 21st century?
>>
Kevin Spacey killed the show kek

It's like asking why some Anon would want to be a janny, well knowing they'll be universally hated. They don't get anything out of it beyond the ability to act like a petulant faggot and abuse their power whenever something doesn't go their way.

Almost pissed myself laughing.

It's when you stretch a single series worth of episodes into an 8 season Netflix Prestige extravaganza.
>>
>>214834512
Certainly feels that way so far

Claire's character is the most inconsistent character I've seen in a show. It really feels like they had no idea what direction to take her.

>Having the wife go on to be president is completely unreal;
That wasn't the plan, though. Frank was suppose to have a massive downfall, I suspect, but Claire would never had become president. She did because the writers got fucked with Space's cancellation
>>
>>214837055

They were building her up for years when they realized they could also lay some propaganda groundwork for ol Hillary to boot.
>>
>>214837172
>when they realized they could also lay some propaganda groundwork for ol Hillary
Season 4 was after the 2016 election, and that's when they really started pushing Claire as a political leader. So doesn't really add up, unless they thought Hillary would win

Picrel is still one of the most unhinged things I have ever witnessed. And then multiple people who were to testify against him suddenly died, right? Kino.
