Im hooked. Began S1 back at release and never really kept up (weekly releases iirc), recently began rewatching and now in Season 3. This is.. kino. Ive missed dialogue-heavy series like this very much recently. Its insane to me how low rated it is on IMDB. Opinions?

This show is too much different from the books to the level it tells its own dumb story using Asimov's charcters.Female Daneel/Demerzel is way too much human, making it a ridiculous character and when you compare it to the original it's even worst. Obviously it can't stay dead but until it comes back it will be another Games of Thrones (in space).The Mule is another ridicuous choice. You have 3 characters that plays it. WHY mother of God? Just because the writer needed to fill in some episode?Not to mention the fake and pitiful Hologram Seldon.The only way to save the show and give it some dignity is close the Mule's story in a couple of episodes and then, by a time skip, go for Gaia following what's written in the books without woke and generic stuff added as done with these 3 seasons.I don't care at all about all the CGI they pay for, because this isn't a story/show about how beautiful a spacehip coul be or some WOW FX.

A lot of the "brown" stuff in season 2 and 2 you really can just skip.On the other hand, the gay guy couple from season two was not overly annoying and on the nose, the older actor also being competent.Empire is the best. Even the one bit they did faithfully, the realisation by the protagonists that Seldon's prediction were off the mark in the vault, was disarmed by the fact they announced it'd be coming for the last 2 seasons.

Another problem is you're right, their writing outside of some Empire bits was basically pointless. Literally pointless. The first season made it seem like it wasn't a big deal for the emperors which is why they were okay with the cycle. Now you have emperors running from an advanced killing device. there was a lot of bad writing with empire side in season 3 to explain breakdown in behavior when they already had an easy escape hatch with the genetic manipulation that happened to the one clone, the only thing that didnt make sense there is why would robot allow that to go forward and not kill the clone that had been altered. It was never explained beyond that era's day wanting to not kill his 'son' but it was clearly shown even emperor's couldn't change her behavior anymore. Yet she found loopholes to set things in motion? When she clearly showed fragility trying to push against her programming? Too many loopholes and unexplained clashes of ideas, undefined. Might as well have been magic.

It has a lot of issues over being woke but the fact of the matter is that it is very in your face with how heckin diverse it is to the point where the story suffers for it. A lot of the Empire stuff is great, another anon said that Jared Harris is phoning it in but I think that him phoning it in still runs laps over 99% of the other actors in the show.
