It seems people back then were really fiending for something that continued exactly as season 1 but there's nothing like that. s2 is more complex, basically eschewing the cosmical horror for real estate conspiracy. It's a mature direction but it honestly isn't as tonally satisfying and there's less obvious "theft" of established mythoses (mythoi?) which I think is a mistake. I like that farrell is a different flavor of despondent from mccounnaguhey and I like that vince vaughn basically serves the same purpose in s2 as the swamps and the industrial areas of s1; a kind of treatcherous territory that you penetrate deeper as the season goes on.Season 3 is for me what people talk about when they're saying they were disappointed with season 2. It mostly felt like a not as good season 1 and the ending to it is so disappointing.Haven't seen s4 but I can gather that it's not very good. s5 has the same director so probably not getting better.
