He literally gave up during his fight with Sidious and decided the Galaxy deserved to burn as punishment for letting the Jedi fall and embracing Sith principles. Yoda was a piece of shit. Yoda just wanted Anakin dead for betraying the Order just because that is what the Jedi Code said should happen. Yes, Yoda was just as indoctrinated and dogmatic as the underlings he brainwashed into the Jedi Cult and had no mental ability to operate outside the Code's strictures. Except Yoda would have been encouraging and supporting all his actions all along. Which might have actually been a really engaging narrative worth exploring. If Luke had continued to been groomed after ROTJ by Yoda's Force ghost and ultimately gone along with it until he became just like Yoda. And the audience realization that the Jedi Order was never good and Luke needed to be saved from his dogmatism by a wild Force user uncorrupted by the Jedi dogma. The whole 'Order' does not necessarily mean 'Good' schtick.
