>The plan is to cast an unknown in his late 20s or early 30s that matches Ian Fleming’s original description of Bond as “a blunt instrument — the lethal but extremely dull, uninteresting man to whom things happened.”https://deadline.com/2025/09/james-bond-cast-unknown-british-actor-denis-villeneuve-dune-1236554375/Will audiences accept it after over 60 years of suave, charismatic Bond?
>>214845822>extremely dull, uninteresting manso... a self-insert?
>>214845822>someone "dull and uninteresting"I am available.
>late 20s or early 30s >dull and uninterestinglooks like I've got a chance to be the next Bond boys
are there any other directors that have gotten progressively worse as the budget for their films grows?villeneuve's dune movies are unwatchable trash, blade runner was terrible, but enemy, pirsoners and even sicario were all kino
>>214845822just like his movies
>>214845822>we don't want the cool white guy to get to be coolwow who could've predicted thisfirst they make superman look gay and cringe now thisthey have to desecrate every white male hero or icon
>>214845822>extremely dull, uninterestingkek, sums up most of his films
>>214845822We have a dull and uninteresting bond at home.
>>214845963I've always thought Craig looks more like the henchmen of one of Bond's villains than he did Bond. I hate his stupid face.
>>214845919I didn't even like Prisoners, really.>David Dastmalchian JUST HAPPENS to have some mental disorder that specifically requires him to soak stolen kids' clothing in blood, thus making the cops think he's the killer>literally two characters (Dano and Dastmalchian) who actually know who the fucking killer is, but conveniently can't tell the cops b/c of their mental conditions>Gyllenhaal could've found the kids and the killer if he'd just executed a search warrant on his prime suspect's houseIt's well-acted and atmospheric, but the plot is just absurd and contrived.
>>214845997he has no range and squints all the time.
>>214846047all of denis movies are retarded trash on rewatchhe's carried by deakins or jake g or whateverhe's a propagandist hackhe made a sickening lie based on a canadian shooter that explains his vile nonmorals
>>214845997He looked okay as a younger meathead Bond in Casino Royale, but he aged REALLY badly.
>>214845997yeah he looks kinda like Charles Dance in For Your Eyes Only
>>214845822I like the concept, but Denis is a wimpy filmmaker.
>>214845822Nope. Movies where better then the books. Because Terrance Young realized Bond would be far more interesting as a wolf in a tuxedo. Why he got a Scottish brute in Connory who had never worn a suit to play Bond. Fleming called Connory a gypsy thug but as soon as he saw Dr No realized the brilliance in what Young was going for. Nobody wants to watch a boring stuck up bong
>>214845822Oh boy I bet this will be just as enthralling as DUNC
>>214845822Sounds kino, like they're going for more of a Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy vibe instead of Mission Impossible: Deadpool
>>214845919are there any other boards where contrarians feel the need to constantly espouse the dumbest opinions possible just to stand out?
He going to get Spathis to write this dogshit too?
>>214845822Dull and uninteresting, like the aesthetic of his Dune movies?
>>214846090He was so kino in that film. It's been nearly TWENTY fucking years because the producers are so fucking incompetent.QoS should've been filmed back-to-back with CR and released the following year. That would've solved the trajectory issue and stopped Skyfall from ever being made.
>>214845919>are there any other directors that have gotten progressively worse as the budget for their films grows?Every one of themLack of constrains and limitations exposes them hard.
>>214845919All of them
>>214847730Last I heard it was the guy that wrote Peaky Blinders was doing it. This shit is DOA.
>>214845910Same, even have the same hairline as the guy in the drawing.
>>214847741REEEEEEEEEEEEEE stop being contrarian! Lmao @ >>214847708
>>214845997El goblino
>>214845822Good. Casting an unknown is better than spending millions on some established charisma vacuum. Just leave women out of the writing room, dont cast a twinkle like Tom Holland, and it should be fine.
>>214845822Jack Bannon. Plays young Alfred in the series Pennyworth. Mid 30s, 6'1, average looking, not your typical action hero.Go for it Jack
Dull and uninteresting certainly fits his movies.
Ah shit, I'm 40 years old and extremely charismatic. Can't be me.
>>214846047Deakins. It the most egregious example of a movie made by the cinematographer in existence. Almost a silent epic.
>>214845822It better be totally unknown. All the known bongs thrown in the mix are overexposed for the fictional requirement.
>>214845822>extremely dull, uninteresting man to whom things happened.”So like Harry Potter for adult men
>>214845822So Henry Cavill?
>>214845822>dull and uninterestinggee whiz, they should pick anyone from this board.
>>214847626Reminds me of American Psycho. In the book Patrick is more like the fanboys in that he's an autistic colorblind idiot who can't make a cohesive outfit work, often mixing patterns and fucking up basic manners. But it was the directors vision to have a chiselled Greek statue like Christian Bale so you can do infinite closeups of his sweaty face who cares too much about the front cover of Vogue.
We're not used to seeing James Bond in his 20s or late 20s; we're used to watching James Bond in his late 30s, early 40s, and ending in his late 50s after 5 or 6 movies.
>>214845822Ian's Bond looks like Jorah from Game of Thrones. Unfortunately, the actor is too old to play the role but he would have been the right age when they cast Craig. Also looks like younger Tolkien, if Tolkien had killer's eyes.
He's probably the worst possible director for a James Bond movie. Also Ian Fleming's novels sucked, the movies are the only reason people care about them.
>>214845919yeah Interesting trend. Sicario's his only movie I like. Don't remember enemy or Prisoners. Some directors just shouldn't be doing big projects, especially of IPs. His Bond will be terrible.
>>214849178Connery was 32 in Dr. No
>>214845919>are there any other directors that have gotten progressively worse as the budget for their films grows?SS Rajamouli
>>214847708>contrariansgo back to rebbit
>>214845822Started looking over british actors below age of 30You guys think this guy could work, or is he too distinct looking?
>>214849320Looks like a nonce>>214849442No.
>>214849240That's 45 in scot years
My favorite version of the character is the one from The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Pulp garbage like this series needs to be treated that way.
One thing that's clear, from the amount of threads we've had about the subject, is thatthere's plenty of options to choose from.
>>214845822Not an uncharted territory for spy moviesCould be gud
>>214850999You're right, but not for a franchise that wantsto make a billy at the box office.
Didn't they already cast that chinkoid for bond?>>214850857Do you have more picks? You're clearly a boomer.
>>214845822Sounds like he wants....me
>>214845822>Ian Fleming’s original description of Bond as “a blunt instrument — the lethal but extremely dull, uninteresting man>a man>original descriptionI guess there won't be 500 threads a day about how Villeneuve made Bond a queer black woman
George Lazenby was dull and blunt as in the book. It didn't work. In fact, if 007 wasn't starred by Sean Connery then it would have never become a proper franchise.
>>214851560Oh no, there will be 500 threads about how a queer black women would've been better than whatever Villeneuve gave us (while all the reviews and normies universally praise it as a triumph)
>>214845822>Bond>extremely dull, uninteresting man to whom things happenedThanks, Skyfall
>>214845822>extremely dull, uninteresting manDenis, call me.
>>214849125That was satiric. How'd a socially inept, clueless make it to Wall street and excel? If it's donation by his parents like his peers, still not a plot point.
