>science fiction used to shine a light to current world problems
Whoa
>>
>>214847398
The problem is that the only problems writers are allowed to talk about now are racism, sexism, fascism, and corporate greed. Everything other topic is forbidden.
>>
>>214846891
a spoiled writer living in a gated community whose livelihood comes from made-up stories on a computer honestly would be the right person for this sort of material. i'm sure they're driven by intense guilt for not picking fruits in some field, leading to careful contemplation. anyone actually deeply affected by the class struggle is too busy doing actual labor
>>
>>214847398
There's a difference between making a show about "rich bad" with some xenomorphs sprinkled in and a xenomorph show with some political commentary sprinkled in.
>>
>>214846891
If a “showrunner” has to explain the show before I watch it, I’m not watching. Simple as.

Steaming has ruined entertainment. These sites need endless content to keep people to renew their subscriptions. So anything decent gets lost in a void of shit

Isn't it the entire Alien series? Hint: Weyland-Yutani is evil.

Sci fi isn’t suppose to be in your face about it, it’s suppose to be subtle and in the background with large imposing corporate logos and stuff, that the reader/audiece figures out in their own

TLDR: Show don’t tell
>>
Sorry Alienbros if you hadn't already realized Noah Hawley is a fucking retard. I legitimately don't know why this guy keeps getting work.

The problem with so much now is they have nothing meaningful to say. It is shining a light on things people already know about and without actually exploring any ideas, be that points of view or solutions. It is all made worse when you get some combination of the creatives thinking they are being profound, are offering solutions, or are for some reason attacking the audience. And ultimately, this is just all being churned out by megacorps, that do not actually believe anything like ruthless corporations are wrong or are deluded that they are not such corporations, and the creatives are just virtue signallers. People try to do the argument that NuTrek, for example, is no different to that what came before in being progressive, but the difference is the stuff that came before actually tried to explore things and did not have disdain for its audience.
>>
>>214847088
The worst thing about Aliens Earth is that Hawley openly said "it's going to be about robots of the Aliens franchise" and also getting quoted as saying "I explicitly told my writing staff "if it's starting to look like you are trying to write Blade Runner and not Aliens, we are fucked" when talking worse case scenario for his show.

It's probably why Hawley was quite liberal showing the xenomorphs (to hide the fact that the show was really a stealth Blade Runner TV show) as far as forcing the xenomorph and face huggers, etc to show up for a set number of minutes every episode and them being front and center on the screen instead of hiding in the shadows, since he had to justify/cover his ass over how the show got derailed into becoming INO.

No, but they're not the only country dealing with that problem anymore and they created that problem themselves as a result of their one child retardation. Women's rights and the issues resulting from it in the West are directly tied to neoliberalism, capitalism, and individualism.

The new series had no message or meaning. It was just boring slop. A mashup of ideas that were never explored. All to frame men as bad and women good. It's a completely forgettable piece of media and likely won't have much of the audience returning for the second season.

Not really because in the old canon before Disney WY was a company but the world was still divided into three super-states. United Americas, UK/Japan and into commies who were the most evil. No surprises they retconned all that into generic safe evil companies fighting each other.

AyyLmao Erf doesn't have any class warfare. You have no middle class and no lower class distinction to begin with. You have the ultrarich, and you have everyone else sucking dick as a blue collar wageslave.

Even the scientists with 6 phds, what life do they have? They live and work 12 h days on site and we don't even know what their living conditions are, do they even have their own quarters? Foxconn-tier.

>>214853698
>population declining = end of the world
Population decline being good or bad is very relative and in South Korea's case it's so sharp it's basically spelling their end yes.
It's projected to make their social services implode themselves, among other things and in case you're as much of a brain dead retard when it comes to sociopolitics as I'm guessing from your post, SK has North Korea breathing down their neck like a vampire and without a good enough population of able bodied people to maintain an army they're leaning on getting ass raped.
>population declining + turning into minorities in their own country = progressive and good and proper

The Wachowskis thought they were making a film based on the work of French person Jean Baudrillard, specifically his Simulation & Simulacra, which appears in the film and aptly: Neo has cut out the inner pages and filled the void with his own contraband. That's possibly the only bit of the Matrix which Baudrillard could have considered an accurate representation of the film's use of his work. He disagreed with the Wachowskis and considered them to have not understood at all. If they had, then the Matrix would be a film which couldn't exist within the Matrix itself, without threatening the system.

The film's narrative accurately describes the situation in that if you rely solely on your senses, then the world is an invention of your brain and isn't any more real than your own model of it. If you consider it real, then so are your illusions, meaning you have to choose between the idea that there is an objective reality that exists apart from your experience, and the alternative that your experience is shaping what's real. The Matrix is too complex to decode, which implies it is relying on the brains connected to it to decide what it is, a plot-point removed because the studio thought it was too-complicated, and replaced with the more simple-sounding but actually way more complicated magic-science of humans as a source of energy.

It fails at exploring or explaining the deeper meaning behind that, possibly because of the lost plot-point. The spoon scene is the closest we get, but the other half of it is: how do the machines get humans imagining the world inside the Matrix to begin with? The closest we get is Mouse's speculation on how the machines seem to know things they couldn't: they need to put those ideas inside humans somehow.

From one company amongst others that has an incidental corporate interest in alien life that supersedes space trucker lives to an all powerful nation state company that owns its workers as slaves and has a sole purpose of capturing "the perfect organism" so they can discover acid.

That’s such a retarded take. The Wachowskis didn’t ever market their movie as an expose of the truth or anything. It was just entertainment. They knew the Matrix wasn’t real, and they’re the ones who made it! Sounds like this frog needed to take his meds.

And a bigger army. Republic of Korea Army: 400,000 personnel, Korean People's Army Ground Force: 950,000 active personnel.
Because as it turns out, authoritarian dictatorships can and will afford to put more people in the force. SK's army force was also something in the 600,00 in 2019, so thanks to the fertility problem that one is also on free fall.

He revealed his views publicly in 2004, after the third film. It wasn't a criticism of the marketing, or the film's success: it was specifically his response to their pseuding, which was misrepresenting his own work.
