Avellone is the worst possible writer for Star Wars. His smarmy contempt and hate for Star Wars oozes out of this game. One of Georges biggest missteps was letting this hack anywhere near Star Wars.

KOTOR is massively overrated and I've felt that way since they came out. The story/writing/characters are amazing, but the gameplay is horrible. It has aged worse than games that came before it.
>>
>>214873790
That's retarded, the first game was so much better, it had a great story, a variety of locations and felt original. The second was completely unfinished, added anything new and built to "fight an old woman I guess".

They're both fun and I enjoy both equally.

first game had an overall better story. second game had much better writing, characters, locations and individual questlines but the main overall story was kinda weird and definitely falls apart by the end when the final boss is revealed to be the old lady you mentioned. people get nostalgic for sith lords because of shit like nar shadaa or the bandit raid on that grassland world. people remember the first game for the big reveal at the end and the good first level (sith lords has an absolute dog shit first level by comparison)

Lmao what? It's the complete opposite. The 2nd game had better writing, but all planets besides Nar Shaddaa were empty as fuck with almost no shit to do besides following the main story, meanwhile in the 1st game the content was nicely divided upon all planets. Even the tutorial planet had lots of stuff to do besides following the main story.

Fuck KOTOR. These overrated pieces of shit are responsible for the centrist le grey jedi bullshit still being peddled by fans and by Disney for the last decade or so. I just know we never would've gotten Mortis faggotry or whatever the hell Ahsoka's been on if it hadn't been for Bioware turning the force into a morality bar balancing act.
>>
I wish everyone who worked at Obsidian died horribly. I would pay to see Josh Sawyer hung by the neck until death. Fallout New Vegas is just as bad as 3 but because you can fail your way through the quest and still "win" and the writing is a bit more coherent it's lauded as some great game when the writing is the only slightly good thing about it. It has made me hate Fallout because it shows all the franchise's fans are fucking retards.

You were fortunate enough to have not watched Ahsoka, because Filoni's love for the concept is on full display there.
In any case, while not explicit, Star Wars under disney has tried A LOT to push the idea of the force as a binary instead of what it's actually about. The way balance was talked about in TLJ and things that would occur in other works make it clear there is a non-negligible amount of people who buy into the idea, and it didn't come from nowhere. It came from roleplaying like DnD and vidya morality systems (like what KOTOR has) that pushed these ideas of good, evil, neutral, etc. into the minds of retards, who then pushed it across the internet. Leslie Headland was one such person, even admitting to having run Star Wars DnD campaigns in such a fashion. And you can see the kind of influence that's had on her via her work on The Acolyte, where good and evil are just le shades of grey and the Jedi were apparently always a corrupt institution regardless of the Sith's political and economic machinations in the galaxy forcing them into a position they didn't like.
Those seeds were sown by KOTOR, KOTOR 2 and TOR.
>>
>>214873790
It sucks.
Like your mother sucks.
Fuck off.
>>
>>214879786
I'd say the idea already exists in the OT, especially in ROTJ. Vader throws Palpy into the reactor shaft and this one act scores him so many light side points that his slider shoots right up to the blue end. This means that not only is he redeemed in the Force, but also starts acting like a kindly old man in his dying moments, and he appears, now fully restored, as a jolly and smiling force ghost at the celebration party.

This suggests that the force has a mechanical quality, like a scale, with dark side deeds as weights on one tray and light side deeds on the other. It's already quite video-gamey and it implies a possible middle ground, or balance, between the two sides.
>>
I've tried to play this twice and both times I get soft locked by some game crashing bug
Fucking annoying cause I love it
>>
>>214873862
>Avellone is the worst possible writer for Star Wars.
I love Chris and think he's a great writer. But he is in fact a bad fit for Star Wars. Chris likes characters themes and locations all tied together in clever and neat little knots, cool, but not really what I turn up to Star Wars for. I'd kill for Star Wars story similar to the Earthsea series.
>>
There are three big bugfix patches in the "Essential Improvements" section of PCGamingWiki. I installed them all but I've still seen some shit. Nothing game-breaking, but small irritations, like Atton incorrectly turning to face you during dialogue while he's piloting the Ebon Hawk, sitting the wrong way around and doing the animation for working a control console – locked in concentration and tapping away on an empty space.

>Vader throws Palpy into the reactor shaft and this one act scores him so many light side points that his slider shoots right up to the blue end.
But if we accept that as how it works, then future works shouldn't be treating it as though Anakin and Vader are two sides of the same coin or something he can just turn on and off. If Palpatine was so totally evil that his death (which now didn't even happen thanks to episode 9) would be enough to shoot his cosmic good boy points up, then by all accounts the Vader in him should be completely gone. His soul should should be all fine, as was the assumption until at least 2008, and whatever the hell this is shouldn't be happening.

And yet his mouthpiece is proven a spiteful evil bitch. And in the end, the Jedi were proven partially correct. It fits just fine. The only, and I mean only, issue is criticism of Jedi nonintervention. Which is a made up issue that only occurred in certain Star Wars media.

Otherwise, the movies either have Jedi intervening and investigating out things, or are a nearly extinct religious order.

>>214874514
>weak story and world-building
Sort of true. Too much unfinished. And there is the nagging issue of GOTO's skill set being relevant when you acquire him, and HK47 entering the field too late. And the base games scaling is really bad from 18-35 after which it picks up again.

>>214875696
>(sith lords has an absolute dog shit first level by comparison)
Its a horror story that doesn't translate well to the layout....and the excessive amount of droids still around. It would have worked better with the droids deactivated or destroyed until you get a few of the recordings that show the droids killed everybody. Other than that, Telos is kind nice.
>>
>>214874173
Are there any Sith lords after the implementation of the Two Sith Rule that don’t cover their faces like that? I can only think of the Sith from the KOTOR games and even then I don’t think that any of the Sith lords actually have their faces uncovered only their lower-ranking subordinates
>>
>>214881288
Surely you must realize that Anakin here was merely teaching a lesson, and he was not actually a "half-vader" evil spirit, right? Like this is an illusion. He can take up any form he wants. Or did you just see this gif on the internet without watching the show? I hope so, because otherwise you are clinically retarded if a show as dumb as "ahsoka" managed to fly over your head. No one's home in that skull of yours.

>Anakin here was merely teaching a lesson
And what lesson was that, exactly? Because even the people who like this show can't explain what the episode was even trying to tell the audience. Is the lesson that she needs to not want to die? Take the good with the bad? Because she's never wanted to die before then. She's not suicidal or nihilistic, and she never once concerns that she might be bringing evil into the world or part of the legacy of a monster like Vader, even when Baylan tried to gaslight her into thinking she would. Hell, she never even displays any darker antihero-esque or outright villainous tendencies. She's quite literally more perfect and committed to goodness than Luke, because Filoni loves her too much to be a real character. After this episode, nothing even changes for her. Her outlook, demeanor, etc. are all the same as they were beforehand.
And moreover, why would she even think she was part of Vader's legacy of evil? She should surely know by now that in his final moments he redeemed himself. She knows Luke, seemingly to the point of friendship. Have they never talked about any of this? If they did, then none of this should be on her mind and thus it cannot be the lesson she needs to learn.
And what about this so-called lesson requires he do some Vadering? What, was there some ruthlessness he just wasn't getting in his regular state that he can only tap into if he pretends he's in the body of a cripple? He doesn't stay in that form and just lets her win anyway, there's five times he could've "killed her" and he just doesn't.

>although I don't have such a big problem with how unfinished 2 is

>Bao Dur fucking dissapears from the game with no explanation and shit like that
You just revealed how dumb you are.

Bao Dur died in the crash. The crash on the polar caps on Telos was foreshadowing. Its why the Remote is following his orders, and it turns out, why GOTO has his own orders installed in him. And HK47 can decide their fates.

Because Bao Dur isn't around to order them.
>>
>>214882460
Fucking retard, I am not defending the lesson or the show. I said it was dumb. But it was blatantly obvious that he was not really an evil Vader spirit, which you claimed. God, Star Wars fans are so braindead. Fucking kill yourselves, every last one of you. When will this shit franchise end, so you all shut the fuck up.

My problem is more the lack of visual appeal in the environments. Peragus is bland, so is Telos, areas like picrel would not look out of place on the N64. The parts that look decent are usually recycled from the first game, like Dantooine and Korriban. It gives KOTOR 2 a certain downmarket quality, of the kind more associated with nineties expansion packs than with true sequels.

KOTOR 1 has a problem with overly expansive hubs that require lots of boring backtracking, but places like Taris and Manaan make an impression with concept-painting architecture and immersive ambient touches, none of which is present in the new destinations KOTOR 2 has to offer.

The second game's story IS better, though, even unfinished. The thing that really drags KOTOR 1 down is Darth Malak, a kid's cartoon bad guy who literally goes mwuuh-huuah-huuah-haaa! And Juhani is the worst character of the series, she seems like a proposed Baldur's Gate 2 party member who didn't make the grade.

Bottom line is these games didn't age well.
Everyone keeps bringing up one or two characters or situations while ignoring that 99% of the game is a janky slog.

>>214883760
Why do people complain about jank so much, so long as it isn't actual game-ending jank that makes it impossible to play it's usually some of the most kino parts of older games

It's because of people like you that Bethesda decided to leave all the original bugs in the Oblivion remake. The grateful consumer bends over for Todd, calls the bugs "a feature," and pretends they enhance the experience.
