Seems so overrate but i never watched it, it might be a masterpiece.
It's an entertaining flick but it openly glamorises criminals like Scorsese has unwittingly done for his entire career. Fun to watch with the lads though.
>>214894949I have to say it: FPBP. It sums it up. For some reason I feel like "Goodfellas" and "Casino" have more rewatch value.
7/10, I'm surprised it became as popular as it has. I'm a pretty big Scorsese fan but don't ever feel like rewatching it.
>>214894931>>214894993I liked Wolf of Wallstreet way more than Casino but it's basically the same movie
>>214894931I remember having to pitch this to a friend who always took me to 'Star Wars' movies and Capeshit. I have to say: there was some good stuff here and there.I only proposed a movie to him twice: an Mission Impossible movie (the one where he climbs the burj Khalifa, I think it was Ghost Protocol' and 'The Wolf Of Wall Street'.Of course, I had gone to nearly a dozen moves with him, so when I finally proposed some movies, he had to come, because of reciprocation. Anyways, he enjoyed both movies. It seemed imperative to me at the time that I would go and watch a Scorcese movie in the theater, because I thought it was going to be Scorceses last movie released in a theater and I hadn't yet seen one of his on the big screen.Anyways: it was great, there were a lot of laughs and the experience was Kino. The performances, the way it was filmed. All very artisanal (if that's that's the word?). It was a great thrill ride. I've never felt compelled to rewatch it. Which is funny because Scorcese calls capeshit "Thrill Rides".
It's shit. None of the characters in it have any depth.
>>214894949>>214894993>OI SCORCESE WOT U GLAMORIZING DA LIFESTYLE FOR YOU WANKER THIS FILM IS WELL SHIT THERE ENT NO DOWNSIDE TO BEHAVING LIKE JORDAN BELFORT WTFAbsolutely room temperature take. The fact you need some kind of sword of damocles to dissuade you against the argument for pursuing the kind of lifestyle of Wolfie is just self-admission that you're already a piece of shit. You feel ok with predating on the gullible and naive? That's your retribution. You're being an absolutely parasitic piece of shit poisoning the very well of human brotherhood and trust amongst our civilisation and one another. That's the toll, no one good at heart wants to be that kind of person for any sort of a gain. You're fucking clowns and the point of the movie is it's dumb, they're all fucking retards and bad people and the party and greed lifestyle at the expense of anyone that ever has the misfortune of coming into contact with them isn't something to aspire to. It's a highly amusing film belittling very shitty people. The fact Jordan wears this film as a sort of badge of honour is just further indictment at what an irredeemable waste of space he is. This whole film is Scorcese exposing Belfort for the complete clown that he is and Belfort laps it up like some festival of adoration. You can all go fuck yourselves you chumps.
>>214895241You forget the part where Belfort made bank on the coattails of this movie.
>>214895127>nearly a dozen moves with him, so when I finally proposedOk anon
>>214895341I guess I should've used 'suggested', so it would be more on par with the language you use in that little imp brain of yours.
>>214895303Jordan Belfort received approximately $940,500 for the movie rights to his books, which was part of a larger deal totaling $1.045 million paid by Red Granite Productions for the rights to The Wolf of Wall Street. This payment was made in installments: $940,500 was for the rights, and the company also paid him $125,000 when filming began and another $125,000 when the film was released in theaters. Was this before or after Scorcese signed on? It's not quite 'bank', I don't think you can exactly fairly lay any of Jordan's earning potential post-sentencing at Scorcese. Last I heard of Belfort he was running another grift on the Australian government and skimming public funds.
>>214894931its entertaining, worth a watch. I dont know if I could call it a 'good' movie, because I dont believe people like belfort should be glorified. I dont have a problem with mob movies though, maybe because street crime is more dangerous/hands on than white collar wall street crime? Or that if you're dealing with the mob you're not as innocent as a granny trying to make a few bucks on the stock market. Different class of criminal/victim. 6/10. 7/10 for Johnah Hills midge rant.
>>214894931I rewatched it recently, it didn't hold up.It doesn't really have a proper plot; things just happen.
>>214894931Yes
so it's realistic? Grown adults don't actually have "hero's journey"s
>>214895667>things just happen
>>214895840You can formulate everything in hero's journey. Hero's journey exist to avoid:>and then>and then>and then
>>214894931It’s kino
>>214894993Better movies with better actors.
>>214894931>Seems so overrate but i never watched it/tv/ in the nutshell.
