Peele's latest movie, 'Nope' is by far his best and 'Get Out' arguably his weakest. He's been on an upward trajectory (not that he started very high). The Twilight Zone reboot breaks the pattern, but that was obviously just a cynical cashgrab, not a geniune effort. What are these execs complaining about? Spike Lee is a washed up hack and Steve McQueen hasn't bothered making a real movie in like a decade, so Peele is basically the only competent black director in Hollywood atm. They're a pretty rare breed.

They want safe-edgy slop like Netflix churns out where the most played out, widely accepted liberal heterodox social positions of today are portrayed like they are still as radical and subversive as they were 60 years ago like in Get Out. There's a lot of money to be made if you can sell people the sweet spot between feeling like you are a special rebel who sees behind the curtain while still having that widely specially accepted lowest common denominator factor.

Every Peele movie trailer contains a>We wuz kangs, wypipo is devilssegment in a totally unambigous, off-putting way. The Nope trailer literally starts with 'Black Peoples invented early cinema' rather than the actual content of the movie. !/2 of normie audiences checked out right there. Compare that to something like Sinners where the politics is hidden behind one, albeit paper-thin, layer of abstraction (vampires is sucking are bloods like wypipo is sucking are cultshures). Big box office success. De-emphasize Peele's politics in the marketing, which the execs have full and total control over, and the issue will resolve easily. The poor results are entirely their own fault.
