The remake was better in every way except for the old man. I guess the twist is predicated on knowing the original story but its still better. Both endings are super fucking depressing.

I still don’t understand why people brought back from the dead would necessarily have to come back as evil stupid little shits

Was the moral of the story

>dude when a person is dead they’re just fucking dead just accept it and move on here watch this movie about how bringing people back from the dead would make them evil for some reason
>>
>>214913860
because they are demons dummy.

i love the out of tune spooky piano music that plays at the end

This is advanced autism. I was going to explain it to you but honestly you're legitimately the retarded kind of actually autistic person and ifs more funny you're just confused and agree all of your life because you're retarded and annoying.
>>
>>214913720
this film terrified me as a child
solely due to the flashback scene with the bedridden woman
same with the sickly priest in Poltergeist, for the same reasons
in fact, i vividly remember my mom having to come in and console me as a child when those old grotesque ads of starving african children came on
something about gaunt, sickly humans terrified me more than literally anything as a child
very strange
>>
>>214913860
humans minus the soul are zombies, nothing more
those that were risen are no longer of God, and thus lack a soul, that's why

Oh yeah other than the old man the new movie didnt have the Timmy Baterman story. Otherwise I thought the remake was way better. A lot spookier in general

Bro I'm at work in the psych ward, they're watching Next Friday then ads for Saint Jude Hospital comes on with kids dying from cancer, everything is a Psy Op. Anyway your post resonated with me.

I think the house being run down and old and there's some kind of scene where the house is abandoned like in the future? Am I recalling that properly? Did the house change?
>>
>>214914171
unsure of what house you're referring to, sorry
i still see some of the ads with sick kids, but the ones i'm talking about were from the late 80's and they were extremely shocking and brutally grotesque
back then they tried to shock you into donating i guess

Oh you're right, it predated the Indians too didn't it, they were just the first to learn and pass on that the ground was bad?

Shit now that I'm thinking about it who came before the Indians just different Indians? Then before that? Where'd they come from? Is that land bridge shit real?

I like in movies when trucks just honks continuously when a person is on the road or an oncoming car goes into the other lane and just keep on driving instead of stepping on the brakes.
>>
>>214913720
OPTIMUS NO!
>>
>>214913760
The parents for letting their kid near the road. But even if we can't reasonably blame the driver for not expecting a fucking toddler on the highway, he should still keep his eyes on the road especially in a part like that through a wooded area. That's a big ass bend in front of him and he didn't look up once? Retarded.
>>

>>
>>214915754
yeah it makes sense when trains do it because they literally won't be able to stop in time but it doesn't work at all to just swap it out for a semi
>>
>>214913720
What the hell did the driver have in his truck that would have prevented him from braking anyway? I honestly don’t ever see a problem from braking as I’m barely ever speeding to the extent that the inertia has any effect on me or any of my belongings and have no problem braking for random-ass weirdos jaywalking and taking their time in front of me just to be dicks while I fuck around with my GPS or radio or phone or whatever.
>>
>>214915923
The most hilarious part is that he hit the brakes at all once he got within like 200 feet. There was literally no point. Even if he swerved, he'd just roll over and squish the kid.
>>
>>214915923
Wasn't the problem that he dropped something he was eating or drinking in the truck cabin and didn't pay attention to the road until it was too late plus speeding.
>>
>>214915923
>What the hell did the driver have in his truck that would have prevented him from braking anyway?
It's about the principle of the thing. He had the right of way.

I don't understand the people saying this movie wasn't scary. The idea of a dead person coming back and not being themselves, and it being ambiguous what the fuck they are then, was terrifying to me as a kid. It is clearly NOT the person, or just a brain damaged zombie version of them, as proved by Tasha Yar talking. That shit is a fucking demon or evil ghost possessing them or something.

That sometimes dead is better. The story is about processing grief, something largely removed from the film which is kinda funny since that's what King still has a stroke about in The Shining.

I don't think they come back evil as some kind of consequence of the notion of being brought back to life but rather because white people are trying to use indian magic or some shit.

And also so that the plot is about the consequences of playing god, otherwise there'd quickly be a global war to secure the immortality fields.

They flat out do not come back at all. It's just the Wendigo demon puppeting their body. They left it out of the movie but in the book it loves to torment people by making their loved ones say all kinds of horrible stuff. Gage taunts Jud by telling him about how his wife liked getting fucked up the ass by his friends. It has a grudge against him because he was one of the townspeople who tried to get rid of its last host, that dead soldier guy.

I watched Pet Sematary when I was 10. While you're right about the Zelda being the scariest part, there's some others scene that are almost as scary:
>the one where Pascow lying on the hospital bed with his cracked skull
>Gage slicing Juds heel wasn't the prettiest either
>when Rachel arrives and enters Juds house, the creepy interior and the eerie feeling of it
>jump scare hanging Rachel falling from the attic

maybe it's my nostalgia but to me Pet Sematary 1989 is quite underrated from a scaryness-perspective
