>Two vigilantes break into a man's property, chase him through the woods, and kill him
Why are they walking free at the end? Didn't they just commit a murder?
>>
All the bodies and bones they discovered on the property…

Doesn't justify breaking into a man's house and killing him.
>>
>>214924972
In the US cops can kill you for refusing to exit your vehicle and sign a speeding ticket so it's not surprising.
>>
>>214924918
they were doing a wellness check and saw the mentally deranged woman. they had every right.
>>
>>214925001
They aren't cops. Neither had been a cop for like a decade.

the sprawl is far and wide. the fbi declined that there was a larger conspiracy and stopped investigating. a prosecution of rust and marty, who were locally dubbed heroes, would draw out memory of of childress and potential other accomplices and potentially make it more clear that there is a larger conspiracy. depending on the age of the VHS tape, there may have been more than three people. additionly, with the killing of reggie and the other guy, the prosecution didnt try to expand to any one else, and the defense counsel did bring up that were was no evidence of dora lange at the meth lab. the powers to be wanted it all in the past, so they declined to prosecute and/or investigate what could raise more questions instead of leaving all the known questions answered.

>Didn't they just commit a murder?
it was self defense. they were trying to make a citizens arrest and there was a threat to their lives.
>>
>>214924918
he was a wanted murderer and the cops were ultimately involved - marty warned the black dude he was gonna be calling for backup, who do you think came and dragged marty and russ half-dead asses to the hospital? also, marty and rust were former senior detectives working as PIs, that's as close to a cop as a civilian is gonna get without just actually being a cop. weird nitpick

They chased him into the woods though. You can't claim self defense as you chase a fleeing man down.
>>
>>214924918
They broke into his house in self defense, stood their ground against him through the woods and claimed temporary domicile over the cave they ended up in, allowing them to enact castle doctrine against the aggressive invader.

Based and correct

Lmao when you say it like that it sounds like a D&D campaign or one of those hella epic anime moments I see clips of
>ore wa ne shin sugoi*translators note this means you're already dead*
>>
>>214925230
Cops are civilians, faggot
>>
They're ex-cops, that's all they need, Marty being a PI legitimised Rust's off-book investigation
>>
>>214926549
everyone's a civilian when they're in my restaurant.
>>
>kill the "problematic" guy living innawoods and never go after the elite pedo cult
Truly they were the true detectives
>>
>>214925431
i never claimed self defense. im saying it wasnt in the interests of the sprawl (and therefore state) to prosecute marty and rust for murder.
>>
>>214924918
This show has the worst ending of all time. Literally makes it not worth rewatching
>>

You should go try telling a roid raging cop that retard. They'll punch you in the face and then charge you with assault.
