>>214950094None of the "genre rebels" are giallos lol. Not even Suspiria on neutral chart. F13th is allowed as slasher were just the American versions of giallos and F13th was a straight ripoff of Bay of Blood (and Halloween).

I only really like the Argento ones most others I've seen were dumb and schlocky

I'm partial to The Bloodstained Butterfly as it rarely gets mentioned as a premier giallo and I utterly love the insanity of The New York Ripper but if I had to choose one of the few I've seen (perhaps 20-25 in total) it's probably Tenebrae as it does manage to capture the genre perfectly (other than being 10 years late but maybe also thx to that).
any other movies that could be considered American giallos?

>>214950239Solid list. Bravo
>>214952962Dressed to Kill has plenty of aspects of it, though it lacks the "gore".
>>214953092>Jennifer O'Neillbased
it's not my fav. Not even in my top 10. I don't think it's among the top 50 best either. But it's still cool.
>>214950094What the fuck is a Giallo?
>>214953622>In Italian cinema, giallo (Italian: [ˈdʒallo]; pl.: gialli; from giallo, lit.'yellow') is a genre that often contains slasher, thriller, psychological horror, psychological thriller, sexploitation, and, less frequently, supernatural horror elements.
More of a Rosemary's Baby copycat than a slasher, but still worth watching.
>the Excalibur homage scene except the sword is a spoon and the stone is an ass
>>214953725Are these movies not often beeing dubbed in English?Or are they recorded in original English but made by Italian producers and Italian production companies?Like the Italian westerns who were dubbed into English I believeOr were the Ckint Eastwoon Italian cownboy movies original in English?
>>214953622Giallo is yellow in Italian and a reference to crime fiction books that were popular in Italy back in the day and were distinguished by their yellow covers
>nice opening>gets pretty dull afterward>but then goes completely insane in the final few minutes with a psychic with stigmata, extreme female genital mutilation, and fourth wall breaking metafiction
>>214953843Like most Italian movies with international cast at the time they were recorded in whatever language every actor spoke and then dubbed in Italian and other languages.
Obviously aping off the success of The House with Laughing Windows, starting from the main actor, but still surprisingly solid for a late giallo
>>214950094That's quite a sophisticated bait image.
I love jello
>>214953976Ah yes this was what I was wondering aboutThanks for clearing that up
Torso is pretty kino
