on dexter episode 1. I think this guy is the ice truck killer
>>
He is, good catch

How’d you know?

Hot take, Dexter should have only lasted one season, the twist being that Dexter was the ice trucker and was simply blacking out and killing like a normal serial killer. Deb finds out and kills him.

End of story

Hopefully your slop writing stays strictly to /tv/ posts
>>
>>214961884
That's fucking awful.
>>
>>214961884
The worst part is that if the show was made today, then that's probably how it would have gone.
TV/Movie writers have gotten so much worse over the last decades.

I tried to rewatch the show a while ago but I tapped out after a couple episodes. The first season is just so boring and so slow in a rambling sort of way.

At the time the series only got traction at all because of the comparatively unconventional premise.

>I think this guy is the ice truck killer
Correct. Now you don't have to watch the remainder of the series.
>>

>ending Showtimes ONLY successful IP with a hackneyed 1 season
The writers can write whatever they can pull out of their ass, they answer to people who know what they're doing

Horseshit, you ADHDbrain.

To be fair general media illiteracy may make it seem more worthwhile
>>
i stopped watching a little into season 3, did i miss anything worthwhile?

Doakes comes back from the dead as a zombienigga and proves to everyone that Dexter is the butcher instead of him
>>
Its crazy how much they blew their load with all their good plotlines and characters in the first few seasons. Doakes, Lundy, Brian, Trinity, Miguel, none of the characters in seasons 5-10 come close. The Ice Truck Killer/older brother plotline should have been towards the end because no killer comes close to Brian in terms of plot weight and competency with the obvious exception of Trinity. I went into the show thinking the Bay Harbor Butcher case would last for the whole show and was shocked to find out that literally everyone considers the case closed after Doakes' death until like Season 6 or some shit. I was assuming it'd be like Death Note where the case is actually pursued but I guess that would put Dexter in trouble and the writers don't want their power fantasy temu Punisher to ever be in trouble
>>
>>214967368
Isaak and Hannah are good characters but the former doesn't even get as explored as much as he should've due to his Thor commitments.
>>
>>214961181
That's racist
>>
Dexter would be a masterpiece if only the first 4 seasons existed and the order got shuffled
Miguel Prado and Trinity Killer are fine but should have been used earlier. The big final season should have been either a confrontation with Doakes or the Ice Truck Killer.
It seems like they blew their load early because they thought they would only get one season.
>>
>>214967478
Miguel and Trinity should've been the first two seasons, Brian comes in at the third season but doesn't die until Season 4, and the final season is the Bay Harbor Butcher case and ends kind of like Death Note with Dexter being caught by Doakes and actually turned in.
>>
>>214967368
They definitely blew the brother on season 1. He would have had more impact in later seasons when we know more about Dexter's psychology and upbringing.
>>
>>214967597
He only learns about his upbringing through his brother. If they only teased that and just dropped a long-lost brother on us it would just feel soap opera-ish.
>>
>>214967478
It's because season 1 was based on a book so there was already fleshed out source material to work with which the lead writer (James Manos) spend a couple years carefully adapting it into a script. The intention had always been for it to be a one-off, self contained story. Then the show unexpectedly got greenlit for several more seasons, and Manos not willing to quickly shit out some slop quit the show and the writing was taken over by a bunch of random TV writers who had to come up with something fast. That's why they blew all their load in season 1.
>>
>>214961181
that's the chesapeake ripper
>>
>>214967755
Aren't his books utter trash?
>>
you can tell how much the writers know that they blew their load early with all the constant hallucinations especially in Resurrection of characters that people actually like such as Doakes, Trinity and Brian. They should have rebooted the show ages ago but its too late now with how old all the actors are (though Eric King hasn't aged a day)
>>
>>214967792
I don't know, have you read them?
>>
>>214967792
The books are so-so. The dark passenger is explicitly supernatural so the tone of the books is completely different than that of the show.
>>
>>214967839
I own the first one which I started reading on a plane but had to put down because I was too tired and fell asleep. Never went back to it. I just recall reading they're schlock and feature a lot more supernatural stuff and even campier and more outlandish shit than in the show.
>>
>>214967792
Doakes is better in the books
>>
>>214967626
I guess they should have just kept him alive
>>
>>214968210
That's one of the series' best moments. Even though Brian is objectively an evil man that deserves to die you can't help but feel bad for him with the rejection he receives moments before he dies at the hands of someone he genuinely loves and understands.
