Why did Temple of Doom age so poorly in comparison to Raiders, which was made 3 years earlier?
>>
People realized the movie was toning down Pajeets.
>>
>>214967951
it didn't

annoying woman character.

You have a low film IQ.
>>
>>214967951
I stopped liking the series when I realized it was just a jewish revenge fantasy story.
>>
>>214967991
If only it had more shit like this and less over the top monkey brains shit. Even if they were trying to be ironic, it just sucked.

Crazy Spielberg married Kate Capshaw after he, Ford, & Lucas turned her out the entire filming. All time toxic film set.
>>
>>214967951
It didn't. Its incredibly fun with amazing sets. Fuck you. Nigger
>>
The tone is different. I didn't mind it at all when u was a kid, temple was my favorite. Now as an adult I cant get past the first 30mins, even though I'm sure the second half of the movie is probably better
>>
>>214968067

I rewatched the movie a month ago. The female character is incredibly annoying, and the middle part is extremely boring. The village and the journey were far too long, with entire scenes of Indy just standing around.

Really bad screenplay compared to Raiders (And crusader)
>Annoying kid
>Annoying love interest
>Much less interesting setting and plot
>Worst villain of the franchise, barring whatever the newest one was called.
>Vastly inferior set pieces and action in general.
The sad thing is there are low IQ types who swear that it's actually a great film and/or is better than crusade e.g. >>214968034
>>
For me it felt campier, grosser, gruesome, less compelling. The "mystic Nazi ghost story" theme/aesthetics of 1 and 3 were more interesting and less repulsive.
>>
>>214967951
there's good reason why TLC follows the exact formula as the Raiders, Indy only works as a one off film and not a franchise
>>
>>214968113
A fan of Jewish fairytale tales. Many such cases.
>>
when i was little i thought it was wrong to just assume all indians were like this
then i grew up and realized they were all like this
>>
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was filmed in Sri Lanka (specifically around Kandy, where a rope bridge was built for the film)

Also, lots of black face Indian depictions, Indians probably wouldn't like it.
>>
>>214968092
>is better than crusade
nobody outside of retard contrarians could be claiming that
>>
>>214968182
Indy movies are extremely well researched in terms of "stuff nazis actually did". Its obviously a comicbook exaggeration but Spielberg (as always) obviously knew his realworld lore. Same with close encounters.
Himmlers anthropological thinktank (ahnenerbe) absolutely tried to find the holy grail, otto rahn might be the most interesting kraut of all. They were also interested in the ark although I dont think hey sent an expedition out specifically for that, could be wrong.
The whole "nazis were obsessed with the occult!" Is kindve mishandled by a lot of "history channel dad" sensationalism, but there's nothing in Indy that's actually "jewish lies" or whatever you guys talk about
>>
>>214968088
The concensus is mostly that its good because they took a risk and made something different.

You will very seldom see praise about he actual content of the movie.
>>
because fags just want to see the same naiz enemies killed over and over. Killing indians is refreshing but problematic
>>
>>214968088
Kill yourself retarded faggot
>>

Marion was the best, she is adventurous and brave yet not a mary sue and a damsel in distress. willie is just plain annoying while being pure deadweight.

for you.

>>214968497

What's the problem? Its super easy. They're weak and dumb.
>>
>>214967951
What the fuck are you talking about? it hasn’t aged poorly, it’s an awesome movie.

Temple of Doom is the best one.

I liked the monkey brain stuff. This film captures the exotic of India with only a hint of exploitation. More exploitation, the better.

In fact it's probably the best action/adventure movie of all time
>>
>>214967951
It's just less great compared to the other two. All three aged perfectly fine.

>Last Crusade
>good
>>
>>214967951
Just another case example of why Spielberg should only have done 1 film.
>Comes up with great idea for a film, works on it, develops it and pitches it with enthusiasm
>Gets the contract and makes an awesome groundbreaking/genre defining film
>It does really well, he wins awards
>Suits want to turn it into a franchise for more money and merch opportunity
>He fumbles script for a sequel
>Doesn't do as well
>"Franchise" goes downhill almost instantly and he never is able to surpass the first film.
Par for the course for him; Jaws, Jurassic park ,Indy.

He's much better at turning a vision into a single stellar film like; Terminal, ET, Saving ryan, Schindler, Close encounters.
Once you ask him to try and expand his vision and come up with new things the vision has already been and gone.

Last Crusade is a legitimately good movie. It has clear, strong themes, and it’s pretty wild how they managed to film a journey from the U.S. to Italy, then to Germany, and finally to the Middle East, all while delivering solid action and a relatively good plot.

Leftroons don't like Temple of Doom (the best Indy) because it's "racist."
But Indy hates subhuman commies.

Temple of Doom only gets better over time for me, I find all the bizarre decisions like the histrionic woman and the gross-out dinner scene only become more endearing over time. In contrast I think Raiders suffers because it's solid, but too many people have ripped it off over time so it feels played out through no fault of it's own. Raiders is overhyped and Last Crusade is underrated
>>
The only people who don't like Last Crusade are actual Nazis & losers who don't have a good relationship with their "Eskimo brother" father.

Yes, yes, yell me again how people eating snakes and monkey brains is racist (even though they do totally do that albeit)
>>
>>214967951
>didn't make sense even att coz no one is scared of indians or intrigued by anything except the mysticism
>doesn't lean into the indian hate and instead goes goofy with "monkey brains"
>amrish puri is too charismatic vs stoic harrison ford he steals focus
overall it's an alright movie that is elevated by the dumpster fire that indiana jones became.
the script writers clearly wanted to dunk on indians but realized too late that most americans know nothing about indian culture and had to punch everything up with african/voodoo tropes instead which narratively clashes hard.

you've just described why 99% of sequels are shit, it's hardly exclusive to Spielberg

>Holy Grail leitmotif
That alone makes Crusade a masterpiece.
>>
>jeets swarm the internet

Interesting.

While it's not as good as Raiders or Crusade, it's still one of the best action/adventure films of all time.
>>
All three are terribly racist.

I watched the whole marathon like a month ago, except I could not finish 5th.

The second one is definitely better than the first one. I struggled so much to get through the first movie it's not even funny.

But the criticisms are valid. It does get a little slow, but the action is amazing and the set pieces are top notch.
>>
>>214968868
spielberg didn't have anything to do with jaws 2+
>>
>>214967951
Temple is kino. The opening sequence was almost as good as Raiders. It just isn't remembered as fondly because of twats angered about the politically incorrect representation of Indian culture.
