So he was the Zodiac killer, right?
>>
>>214971083
One of them, yes.
>>
>>214971083
No.
>>
>>214971083
That's seems to be what the movie tries to hint towards but probably not in real life
>>
They tested the DNA and it wasn’t him

The fingerprints also didn’t match

Handwriting also didn’t match but I don’t think that’s as important
>>
>>214971083
Did you watch the movie, he said he wasn't
>>
>>214971083
he wasnt the Zodiac, and if he was, he certainly wouldnt tell any of us
>>
>>214971083
>he's creepy and bald so he must be the killer
>>
It was the basement guy. They tell you that in the film.
>>
the Zodiac Killer's messages are being decoded through software right now. brute force or AI or something.

maybe he'll outright say in one, "for solving this puzzle, i'll tell you my name," and it won't mean anything. just some nut.
>>
>>214971083
the point of the film was not "who is the zodiac" it's about how trying to find out ruined Jake Gyllenhaal's life, its clearly not this man but he will never know for sure if it is or not and it's driving him crazy.
>>
Who gives a shit? It's been 50 fucking years even the fucking families of the victims have moved on.

Pic related makes a pretty good case it was some gun nut navy guy who went to larps and posted fanfic to zynes. He would have loved 4chins.
>>
>>214971083
Ted Cruz is the zodiac killer
>>
>>214971083
the real killer was intolerance
>>
>>214972144
I heard that even AI won't really help, the last two Zodiac messages are basically impossible to solve to my understanding
>>
>>214972716
/pol/ tier retardation
>>
>>214972809
Because it's either the killer toying with the police making them think they could catch him or random people who had knowledge of the case but no understanding of the code
>>
>>214972809
There's not a lot of reason to believe that the other two messages will have anything significant, both of the messages that have been decoded are just complete schizo ramblings
>>
>>214972809
even if it's one of those 'even a supercomputer would take a million years!' type cryptography problems, if it's a legit puzzle, surely someone could find a workaround?

i doubt he was anticipating a few programmers to decode that one message, using the computers of the future. same way a lot of criminals were caught through DNA.

just WAIT until AI starts going through (old) internet posts!
>>

It blew my mind how similar he was to a certain type of 4chan poster.

One of the 'evidence' pieces is that the guy liked comic books, I shit you not
>>
there wasn't a zodiac. they were unrelated murders linked only by press coverage of said murders.

the private investigator who concluded Dungeons & Dragons killed that teenager stuck to it until he died (last year, RIP William Dear).

at least we got this Tom Hanks kino out of the whole thing.
>>
>>214971083
Is it possible that the Zodiac letters weren't actually sent by the killer but were just sent by some troll who simply heard about the case?
>>
>>214973601
Grown men being into children's media (comics, anime, video games) is legitimately sus.
>>
>>214973712
There are some legitimate letters from the killer that came with blood stained shirt from the cab driver
>>
>>214971083
No, John Carroll Lynch was only a child in 1969.
>>
>>214973781
paul avery had access to evidence in the case and mailed the piece of shirt to himself. eventually toschi figures out what avery has been doing and cuts him off. when this happens, suddenly they stop getting any real evidence from murders and start getting letters about murders that can't be confirmed ever happened.

>>
>>214973850
meds, pronto
>>
>>214974029
none of the books about the zodiac go into how the investigation fizzled because they started getting letters about murders they couldn't prove happened at all, especially not graysmith, as he was in love with paul avery, still is.
>>
>>214974122
>none of the books about the zodiac go into how the investigation fizzled
So?
>>
>>214974202
because that's as important as the murders themselves. BTK almost got away with everything because he was the polar opposite of everything they thought they knew about serial killers. but then he used microsoft word on a church computer that was named for the church to make a disk to send to the police, and poof, he's caught.
>>
>>214971149
>They tested the DNA and it wasn’t him
The DNA was partial and might not have even belonged to the killer.
>The fingerprints also didn’t match
There are no known Zodiac prints on file.
>Handwriting also didn’t match
Junk science
Not saying it was him btw.
>>
>>214974288
wrong, BTK almost got away because serial killers are notoriuosly difficult to caught, the same reason the zodiac was never caught i.e. random victims
>>
>>214972813
Proven fact, stay mad, newfag.
>>
>>214975428
>There are no known Zodiac prints on file.
partial print from the cabbie
>>
>>214974288
because serial killer profiling is peak junk science, btk proved that
>>
>>214975513
They don't know for sure that's the Zodiac's print. How can you identify one print from all the possible people who came into contact with that cab?
>>
>>214975486
the reason the zodiac was never caught was because there wasn't one. the murders all had different perpetrators, which were made impossible to catch by the media coverage of the open investigations.

note, the zodiac was heavily cited by the court cases that finally got reporting on active investigations classed as obstruction of justice and reduced the freedom of the press.
>>
>>214975520
what was btk profile?
>>
>>214975584
>ackshually there was no serial killer!
This is the next midwit step up from people pushing crackpot suspects. You're not special.
>>
>>214971083
The only real explanation is that the zodiac was in fact a gay black man.
>>
>>214975642
the only thing linking the murders was media coverage of the murders.
>>
>>214975594
A gay black man.
>>
>>214973088
>>214972809
Give me a link, niggers, I got this. I'm an "outside the box" type of fella
>>
>>214975694
The first two attacks had similar MO, same victim profile, close proximity. The letters are also connected.
The Lake Berryessa attack was slightly different, but it seemed the killer was getting into his larp. Also we only know he was wearing a zodiac outfit because one of his victims survived. If that guy hadn't survived, the zodiac outfit would be pointless for a copycat.
Paul Stine was a different victim profile and more daring than the other murders, but at this point the zodiac was upping the ante as part of his terror campaign.
It is far more parsimonious to assign these murders to one guy than inventing multiple killers and conspiracies.
>>
>>214972809
That’s crazy
>>
>>214972809
What’s AI even good for then besides lewd gens on /b/ and writing shitty book reports?
>>
This shit is so easy
>>
>>214971083
No. But Robert Graysmith was obsessed with him and tried to pin it on him, why Zodiac is a very dishonest movie.
People who say him say it wasn't him
People who listened to Zodiac voice say it wasn't him
Dna didn't match
It wasn't him

>>
>>214971083
the real Zodiac killer was the friends we made along the way
>>
>>214976589
Well he was a child molester and was dead by the time the film came out so I don’t feel too bad for him.
>>
>>214971083
I'd like to think so. After Allen's death, the mysterious, harassing phone calls from the "Zodiac" to one of the investigating journalists stopped.
That's a huge bit of evidence that is commonly overlooked
>>
>>214977044
Mageau identified him later in life. It's him.
>>
>>214971083
Most likely
>>
>I’m not the zodiac. And if I was, I certainly would kill you. I mean tell you. I mean I wouldn’t tell you. Oops. Hold on, can we try that one more time? *makes tape rewinding noises with his mouth and pretends to move backwards in reverse* Ahem…mhm. OK. I’m not the Zodiac and if I was I certainly wouldn’t tell you and I didn’t kill anyone and I’m innocent. There. Can that be what you put down? Can you just keep that and forget what I said before? Strike it from the record, please.

chilling scene

>They tested the DNA and it wasn’t him
Incorrect. An unknown sample was retrieved from an envelope (on top of the stamp) which had been handled by dozens of USPS and SF Chronicle employees, so it doesn't exclude him.

>The fingerprints also didn’t match
Also incorrect. A wide array of fingerprints were recovered from dozens of pieces of evidence, many of which were never identified, indicating only his were destroyed or he was wearing gloves - something testified to by Mike Mageau and and Bryan Hartnell when he shot them - and this does not exclude him. Mageau also picked him out of a lineup.

>Handwriting also didn’t match but I don’t think that’s as important
Again incorrect. He was known to have an overhead projector (discovered in his mother's basement after his death, the basement itself being another circumstantial connection to the crimes ["Not a lot of homes in California have basements."]) and suspected to have used it to trace the letters to police and media to obfuscate his printing, but also believed to be ambidextrous. He denied this, claiming to be left-handed and that his schoolteachers attempted to convert him to right-handedness, giving him by his own admission some limited skill with his right hand.

There's a vast amount of circumstantial evidence connecting him with the crimes, but the most glaring are the prank phone calls made to Darlene Ferrin's family before they'd been informed of her death by police. This without any question whatsoever proves that she knew her killer and only Arthur Leigh Allen had any provable connection to her of the three named suspects. I cannot for the life of me grasp why so many of you people are so fucking stupid that this understanding eludes you. You always fuck up the facts, and they are facts.
>>
>>214977226
Your argument would've been a lot more convincing if you ended your rant with, "and them's the facts." instead of "and they are facts."
Try again sometime, retard

did fat bald chomos really have such busy lives in the 1960s? This guy went to the rec center and had friends there, went skindiving, slaughtered his own chickens for dinner, read thriller novels, etc.
