I haven't seen it but from what I've heard, it was more or less a sign of things to come in terms of what the show was going to end up becoming once the trio acquired the rights to it. Something I suppose you are only able to enjoy if you're completely drunk or on drugs.The schizo's disrupting threads preaching about morality in a show about degenerates is the most asinine behaviour of all. Had Mike not joined the writing staff, I think we could have gotten a really interesting story there, maybe Ricky actually becomes responsible and a functioning family man, and has to deal with Julian trying to pull him back into some criminal "retirement" scheme. Instead, what we got in Season 4 was Ricky destroying all his development in the Season 3 finale and becoming an incompetent supervisor with a weed farm, Julian essentially getting sidelined both in terms of screentime and plot relevance, and Bubbles taking up half the season with nonsensical shit like Conky and the Green Bastard. Bubbles just isn't a good lead for a story, he doesn't really want anything besides the life he already has, so all his plots essentially amount to "something random happens and now Bubbles has to react to it". Shifting from the dynamics of the Ricky-Julian duo to a trio led by Bubbles is what ultimately ruined the show, even if it was still kept alive for a few seasons by Clattenburg's writing.
