The reason people were outraged by the gilette "commercial" is that it was implicitly condemning people for acts they haven't done. The fact that the commercial implies, through its casting, that white men are a problem, and that black men are there to save women, is just the extra twist of the knife on top. The whole problem with all the #metoo shit is creates a chilling effect. Normal upstanding men who have never and would never do anything wrong are the ones that end up seeing this stuff and subconsciously changing their behavior because they're afraid of offending or being misconstrued. Actual harassers aren't going to give a fuck and aren't going to stop being creeps/perverts/rapists/whatever just because some commericlals tried to shame men.
