>the greatest show of all time
>no one involved can make anything good since
Was it a fluke?
>>

I think your premise is flawed but have you ever heard a good band that breaks up and the individual members don't make anything good?
Sometimes the group is the magic.

Veep is 10x funnier than Seinfeld so your premise is false. Any show with a laugh track loses its right to be a contender for "greatest show of all time" anyway.
>>
>>214992616
>Sometimes the group is the magic.
No, it's actually the weight of being in something too famous. It's not that they're bad actors, but that they become too iconic to participate in anything else.
See HP.

Lol. No.
It's literally the big bang theory of the 90s
>>
>>214992716
It may genuinely be the greatest comedy show ever made

There is an audience, it isn't a laugh track.

NTA (I think he's trolling) but it's genuinely good. Old Christine was good too. It's not that they're not good, people just don't watch them.

Also to OP's point Michael Richards deserves credit for the most famous stand-up routine of all time.
>>
The first two episodes of Seinfeld are so bad but then it's literally banger after banger after banger.
>>
>>214992718
I have to wonder what kind of person hates Seinfeld but loves The Big Bang Theory of all things
>>
>Jerry runs the show with Larry
>It's great
>Jerry runs the show himself

I don't get it. Was it all due to the writers room?
>>
>>214992833
There's a sizeable portion of zoomers that find Seinfeld "problematic."
>>
>>214992738
There's both an audience and a laugh track they add on top
>>
Julia made some good Kino shows after, what are you talking about?
>>
>>214992887
Because Julia was the most forgettable part of the show so she wasn't typecast. Can you honestly name five ICONIC Elaine moments the way you can with George, Jerry, and Kramer?
>>
>>214993002
Yes.

Sorry, zoomzam, but your favorite internet podcast isn't better than Seinfeld.
>>
>>214993730
Nah. Seinfeld is a garbage show. Massively overrated on this board and by its fans who think they're intellectually superior because they watch this crappy show about a bunch of Jew Yorkers kvetching about mundane stuff.
Not to mention the fact that Jerry couldn't act and kept corpsing in multiple scenes.
The cherry on top being that awful theme song.
>>
>>214992718
That's Friends.

>Massively overrated on this board
I mean, I've only ever heard detractors of the show here on this board, so you're basically just saying it's overrated in general.
>think they're intellectually superior because they watch this crappy show about a bunch of Jew Yorkers kvetching about mundane stuff.
Yawn. Stay on /pol/.
>Not to mention the fact that Jerry couldn't act
Meme criticism.
>The cherry on top being that awful theme song.
Wow, will the show's reputation ever recover from your post? Jerry can't act! It has a terrible theme song!
>>
>>214993874
>Meme criticism.
Anything that triggers you about this shitty show is le meme. Jerry was a terrible actor and ruined every damn scene he was in. Sorry for your diminishing eyesight.
>Stay on /pol/.
Tis just a bit of banter. But you really had to be a New Yorker to get most of the jokes since the setting was a massive part of many episodes. Highly unrelatable.
>will the show's reputation ever recover from your post? Jerry can't act! It has a terrible theme song!
Lol. Cry moar, Seinfeldtard. Your tears are delicious.

>Anything that triggers you about this shitty show is le meme.
We're doing the ol' "you're triggered" bit, huh?
>Jerry was a terrible actor and ruined every damn scene he was in.
Acting is pretty overrated in general, but in a comedy, it's pretty secondary to having comedic timing. Jerry just plays himself. He didn't need to have the chops of Michael Gambon to be funny or to fill the role.
>Tis just a bit of banter.
Recycled /pol/ "banter."
>But you really had to be a New Yorker to get most of the jokes since the setting was a massive part of many episodes. Highly unrelatable.
Somehow it was a hugely successful sitcom. I guess you're too young and never lived through the pop culture phenomenon of Seinfeld, but basically it's exactly as people say: This was a water cooler show. It was something everyone would be talking about the next day.
>Lol. Cry moar, Seinfeldtard. Your tears are delicious.
You talk like a parody of a 4channer and you haven't won anything with your surface level criticisms.

A distinction should be made between early and later versions of that show.
Friends was a cultural phenomenon in the beginning before a big change in writing and directing happened after Season 2 and the characters progressively became caricatures as the show went on. Later seasons would make that a fair comparison.
>>
>>214995184
In light of the past few seasons, Curb has really fallen out fashion, but it was never really contending with Seinfeld beyond its first three seasons. And Seinfeld has so many more advantages, even if you don't like the laugh track.
>>
>>214992654
Veep is good but is no whare near as rewatchable as Seinfeld
>>
>>214992589
Larry David and Curb. He was the real genius behind it. The entire cast says so in interviews.

>>
>>214995388
I love Seinfeld but Curb is just not funny. It's improv done by people who can't do improv. There are no jokes, there's no cleverness or wordplay like in every minute of Seinfeld. It's just dull.

The Cheever Letters ending
>>
>>214995388
I enjoy the entire show, even the unpopular later seasons, but I think there's a drop in quality as early as season four. The humor in that season becomes very broad, and a lot of Flanderization occurs. Season five is a really bad season, only outdone by eight. Season seven is cool because of the Seinfeld reunion, but is a very mixed bag outside of the season's main narrative.
>>214995441
Curb is very funny, but I agree that when you on Seinfeld. It's just incredible how much they were able to pack in a mere 22 minutes. There are more jokes and great lines than most shows have in a season.
>>

>>
>>214995550
No, I think it's the worst episode in the show. It feels like an entirely different series that veers dangerously close to romantic melodrama and sappiness that Seinfeld is emphatically not about. For me the show really starts with The Robbery.

My only criticism of Seinfeld is that the lighting is too bright and dull.

I wish they'd kept the sunny diner set from Season 1 and the gloomy night lighting from Season 2.

It's a show about Jews, created by Jews in a Jewish industry where it was heavily promoted as the funniest show in the history of the world.
Of course it was overrated.
>>
>>214995820
well it was Elaine's first episode so I guess they felt like introducing her backstory with Jerry in that way
I like that episode, I think the scene with Jerry and George in the office building is pretty funny
