I'm salty he didn't do 100% and I only watched the whole show going in blind from Nov-Dec last year. Can't imagine how manga readers and long time anime fans felt.
>>214997737I knew in advance how everybody hated the ending, so I just stopped watched after the rumbling started and pretended it ended there
I think Ymir controlled him to make him stop shortYmir forced the mikasa endingTowards the end he kept implying he was losing his agency and going insane
>>214997737>I'm salty he didn't do 100%that's why retards on 4chan can't into writing.
>>214997737Didn't Eren stop because Mikasa killed him? In the ideal version of AoT were Eren goes 100% what are the supporting cast supposed to do? Sit around jacking off?
>>214997737the final arc was terrible, Eren is the only redeeming part
>>214998021It's not unwatchable, just kinda turned into something basic like a marvel movie.
>>214998330>In the ideal version of AoT were Eren goes 100%edgelord headcanon is the ideal ending
>>214998230>le based genocider is literally me!
>>214998663>edgelord headcanon is the ideal endingOP here and it's not like 'yeah fuck yeah this is so fucking cool' it's meant to be horrific and all. But the point would remain that Eren won and ensured Paradis was safe.>>214998365They should have shown us stuff like the outside world readying their armies and Eldians being genocided at Marley - like ghettos getting the full sack of Troy treatment as a taster of what is coming for Paradis is in for vs. it's destruction being an abstract
>>214998230I'd accept 80% if it wasn't his actual plan to only go that far so his friends look like heroes; he's genuinely beaten vs. him having an elaborate ruse all along. It's bull otherwise, plus all the bullshit like him loving Mikasa, Historia written out of the story, Ymir loving Fritz, etc
>>214998802>genocided at MarleyOutside of Marley I meant.
YOU NO RIKE ARMIN????
>>214998838>>214998802shit like this is why -as a huge weeb- i never go to /a/. unironically you retards ruin shit for yourself by coming up with retarded headcanons.>>214998021>I knew in advance how everybody hated the endinglol it's considered a masterpiece. as you can see it's just terminally online edgelords.
>>214998938Can you tell me why it is good then?
>>214999011Xir cannot.
>>214999011Because every faction of AOT loses.>Zeke dies a failure>Floch goes out like a faggot and his faction directly causes the rest of the world to bomb it at the end>Armin’s half assed proposal and refusal to conquer the rest of the world from the start is proven retarded>Marley is completely flattened>Eren is revealed to be a retarded cuck>The Fritz’ empire is completely goneIt’s glorious. Everybody but Reinhard lost.
>>214999250Eren failing can work, him PLANNING and intending to not fully succeed is bullshit and you failed to acknowledge shit like how they handled Ymir, Historia, and, of course, Eren loving Misakd - which leading to his Incelren outburst, makes it retarded. I clarified I only watched in 2024, I wasn't around for the Chadren cult of personality and meltdown on /a/ or, I am guessing, /co/ when the manga and anime finished
>>214999250P.S. is the rest of Legend of the Galactic Heroes worth watching? I only saw season 1 in 2021
>>214997737I was disappointed when I found out there were people outside the walls, it never stopped making me mad that it turned into that kind of narrative, and then Eren goes and says he was disappointed, too. The only satisfaction was watching him delete 80% of the outside world, even if it sucked that it probably destroyed every landmass' ecosystems forever. I hated how the power of the titans was written mechanically, I mean sometimes it just didn't make sense
>>214997737I can't fathom how people could watch the stupid CGI on top of the downgrade of the artstyle, I mean some parts at the end looked great but some of the time, man, totally ruined the flow for me. Seriously jarring music choices in the second half of the series, too. Rap has no business being anywhere near a show like this, bizarre choice
>>214999385NTA The reboot? It's good, but if you're interested you should watch the original
>>214999800>I was disappointed when I found out there were people outside the wallsI have to ask, what did you think was happening before the basement? It was obvious from s2 there was life outside the walls. Or do you mean on how much more advanced and numerous life beyond the walls were?
>>214999250I bet you talk about how every 40k faction is evil on reddit
>>214997737Eren is Netanyahu btw
>>215000023An industralised world of millions of totally normal people, yeah I was not expecting that and it was such a bad taste in the mouth I stepped away from AOT until I didn't feel so strongly about it
>>215000284I can agree. I'd prefer the world obviously being post-apocalypse outside of the walls. Not fallout-tier of course but obviously recovering from the last Titan War, and Marley actually being an interesting faction.
>>215000337I'd agree with that, but to be clear I'm saying the plot lost me before that, I guess probably pretty hard at around the Ymir's(blonde ymir not jaw ymir) identity part, the concept and overall mechanics of the Nine Titans Most of these steps toward understanding the big picture were individually things I would never have wanted, and before too long I wasn't intrigued by any of it
>>215000524Replying to myself Call me autistic but I have a practically complete alternate plot in my head that's been developing since I first saw the anime as a kid in 2014 I think it was and it diverges completely by the time we see the monke, so I really like watching that part
>>215000524Yeah I can see an argument for that, like the origin of shifter titans and titans overall is less fantasy and more science fiction. A fuckton of good stuff in s4 like the Liberio raid and Eren fucking with his dad (though it remains unknown wtf convinced Grisha to pass the powers onto Eren) but the ending really sucked. I also cared nothing for Gabi learning that people inside the walls were people like anyone else. That shit was so obvious from the get go and had been accomplished better by Eren's talk with Reiner in the Liberio basement, and vice versa seeing Reiner being so conflicted in season 2
>>214997737>m salty he didn't do 100% Well he tried and he would have done it if not for those darn meddling friends >>214998185It's impossible to tell, for someone who raves on about freedom he sure didn't do shit to free himself from the chains of the future
>>215000688>I have a practically complete alternate plot in my headPlease outline, I'd be glad to read
>>215000736Gabi being such an obvious tool for the author to keep stressing what kind of story he was telling was very unhelpful, similarly to Floch's character, even if I have to credit how compelling the Honorary Marleyan and Warrior Candidate stuff was. I liked how Isayama managed to write Reiner actually, I really did simultaneously pity him, look down on him, and relate to him. Grisha was a favourite, too.
>>214998330He should have sacrificed his friends and then rule Paradis feeling sad. That would be the best ending.
>>215000765He had the power of a god including the power to incapacitate the cringevengers. It was assisted suicide. If Ymir influenced that then that's a good point he did become a slave ironically.
>>215000908Reiner was great. It's actually mad how he made him so good and fumbled Annie after she got freed from the crystal. This bitch that killed the most scouts pre-S3 Zeke and nobody bats an eye? A comedic scene of her eating pie? Wtf?
>>215001209>He had the power of a god including the power to incapacitate the cringevengersTrue but like I said he never seem to fight against what the future holds (that he sees). He saw what the future had in store for him and allowed the path so if he saw himself die to his friends then die he shall
>>214997737>he didn't do 100%Why do people keep saying that? His friends went through hundreds of 9 titans variants to stop him.
>>214998021I unironically loved the ending. Stop listening to midwits w who got filtered, it's the same people who cried about GoT Daenerys going insane """"out of nowhere"""""
There is an episode called "From You, 2,000 Years Ago" just treat it as the final episode and it's actually a good show not utterly rapped and ruined.
>>215001460>Reiner was greatThat scene where he just snaps and blurts out he did it all is one of the best scenes I have ever seen in television. It is a transitory scene, out of frame, after a massive and tense scene got resolved and it was time for credits.
>>215000769I won't write it all out here or anywhere else but Part 1 Besides some differences, it's all the same right up to the Annie fight. You find out from something Annie says before being captured that 'pure titans' are something that Eren, Berthold, Reiner and Annie are at risk of becoming. You get some helpful hints from the other titan shifters that tell you that Reiner and Berthold have strangely mixed feelings about Eren and seem adamant about capturing him over killing him, and seem to see everyone else as expendable. Meanwhile Annie has played her hand and refuses to speak. Eren ends up capturing Berthold after Berthold uses a 15-meter form, and he basically spills a portion of beans when they're alone, hoping to convince him to leave the walls together. What Berthold says is that unlike the people of the walls, Eren isn't doomed, and that Eren staying means he'll stay ignorant while humanity dies. Eren starts basically chomping at the bit to leave the walls again, but also realizes that the survey corps gets reduced every excursion. Eren has two more fights with unknown titan shifters outside the walls(Devil Titan 1 and 2, and one that doesn't show itself in the sunlight) where Eren basically tells Levi Squad to back off and let him handle the fighting. You learn very little here except that the government is a corrupt mess that fears the survey corps' popularity and the king is a puppet of the nobility. Then, various survey corps members have some odd encounters with monke, Hange puts the accounts of the ones who lived to tell the tale together and, along with Ilse's notebook, this prompts her to question Berthold, Eren and Annie, and in doing so, accidentally alienates Eren, and Eren decides to not call Berthold's bluff about the importance of not talking to Hange, and starts withholding information, although it makes Hange stop him from seeing Berthold, and makes her even more wary of Eren being captured.
>>214999800Boiling the world's oceans would have eventually caused the world to run out of oxygen.
>>214999958The comparison of Zeke throwing rocks in S3 to S4 is almost comedic. In S3, he does that cool double-jointed thing, and the animation is all fluid, then you get to S4, and it looks like a PS3 character model, almost as bad as the Berserk anime.
>>215001715I'm fine either leaving it at S3, or when the Rumbling makes landfall in Marley, and just headcanoning that Eren finished the job, and then sank to the bottom of the Marianas Trench or something.
>>215002186Part 2,5 I should mention that after Eren plugs the hole in Trost, it's a running theme that while mankind has had its first real victory and has hope, and Eren is extremely happy, he has thoughts that foreshadow what Berthold later tells him, and that's kind of why he has such a strong reaction to it and decides to keep quiet to Hange. He basically wonders if he's not human but a titan, and Mikasa and Armin are full of angst because they're the only ones who know what he's thinking. He has a conversation with Erwin in his office right before Trost where they basically level with each other about their doubts and agree to be totally honest with each other until they find out the truth to compensate for the doubt, a promise that Eren breaks when Berthold talks about what spilling secrets would cost humanity.
>>214997737The ending was universally hated by manga readers and anime-onlies, but the memes just before the final chapter released were incredible.
>>215003642>>215002186Levi Squad(only two were killed btw) take Eren to a secure location where they meet a corpsman called Oder, believed to have been killed, who transformed while Eren was fighting the Devil Titans outside the walls and was then immediately captured and secretly taken back without Eren knowing. Eren realizes that Oder is just as clueless as he is, and shares with him the ominous things Berthold has told him, stressing that it may not be true. Hange has a change of heart and tells not just Eren and Oder, but Levi Squad, Mikasa and Armin everything she learned from monke's talks and Ilse's notebook. Oder gets his own deployment/protection squad and after sparring with Eren, they go to plug Shiganshina, where Oder fights and accidentally kills Devil Titan 2, while Eren loses his cool and eats the other. After Eren is done going berserk, barely restrained by Oder and Levi squad, the unknown titan appears, monke is seen beyond Shiganshina, and the unknown titan drags away Devil Titan 1's body through the outer Shiganshina gate hole. Everyone except Eren is seeing the unknown titan for the first time, and they start calling it the Troll Titan because it has a tail with hair on the end and a bushy mop of hair. Shiganshina is plugged easily. Erwin goes with Eren and Hange into the basement, realize the key doesn't lead to the door, and find that it's been cleaned out and only has a desk. The most ambitious expedition yet is planned. Hange tells Berthold and Annie that whoever doesn't talk gets eaten by Oder. Annie stays in her shell. Berthold forms a fifteen meter titan inside the chamber where Oder's Titan is about to eat him. His last words are just about trying to convince Oder and Eren that they don't belong inside the walls, without giving any new information. Oder boxes Berthold and wins without Eren's help. Eren, watching as a Titan, steps in and eats Berthold when Oder hesitates.
I see no possible way you could have liked the ending. Its a botch. Everything that was set up gets turned into a big nothing, and the opportunity to have Eren be a darker Lelouch type figure just gets spurned so he can be a whiney do nothing faggot, which he never was up to that point in the story.
>>215001650I also unironically like the ending of the whole world besides Paradis Island being glassedI doubt you could improve that much for me
>>214997737There's plenty of places you can stop and still have a good show.S3 ending pointing at the ocean asking that kino question (the ending never answers btw) is good especially since the animation drops after this.Eren starting the rumbling is a good one since it's most likely the furthest Isamaya planned before having to scramble to somehow pull his punches and stop the genocide.Eren arriving at Marley and in his own internal monologue saying 'ill destroy these animals, every single one, off of the face of the earth' is good. For me though its the 'freedom' scene with eren finally completing his journey and being able to enjoy the scenery of the world with no enemies able to stop him (while also coping about the cost of this freedom). To me that's where the story reaches its peak and all that's left is for Eren to finish the job or somehow lose to bs. For me that moment is what the story builds to and is all that matters to me.The ending character and world building assassinates so hard I literally cannot even see it as canon. Its like GOT, s1-3/4 is canon and if you're a normie maybe up to s6 is canon. just pick your poison.
>>215005172True true true I just don't think Eren was character assassinated, I just didn't like it. Like, I would never have written him like this, but I don't think it's character assassination. Just disapointing, not totally wrong if that makes sense
>>215005406It's not just Eren.Zeke was assassinated in order to facilitate Erens defeat (which is a plot hole since Zeke's blood shouldn't matter anymore and even still the rumbling should continue for another few minutes after he's dead). The man was on a life mission of pure nihilism and saw killing people as 'saving the children they would of had' and yet had his stubborn worldview completely changed by a total stranger saying 'I enjoy things tho'. This is blatant assassination as it implies Zeke the nihilist never thought of the first low iq surface level argument against it.Then there's Grisha flipping again for the 4th time. Then there's Ymir. somehow despite being a plot device with not much too her the 'loving king fritz' thing assassinates her and creates so many plot holes and paradoxes that the story can't happen. As for Eren I could write an essay on every issue in his retarded plan but the core is nothing about his character, build up and internal monologue ever points towards the idea of sparing 1/5 of his enemies to continue the conflict forever more. To be clear going by the time that's around 400 million people to come take revenge on the 1 million population Paradis. The most important issue is that you have to make me believe that Eren 'Freedom' Yeager would learn that it was his fate to live a hellish life, kill his dad, brother, grandparents, 80% of the world and then his mum, allow every titan death across time and then die at the hands of the only woman he loves achieving nothing but continued conflict and he would accept that. Bringing in this super time travel to the end when all it was before was some tight memory mechanics made it so Eren is a slave to the worst fate he and the world could of had and is the cause of all titan deaths via allowance.Ending Eren doomed himself, the world and the island where as not even a chapter before he was well written. (the plot at that point still wasn't but whatever)

>if I talk about anime on /a/ the other nerds will be mean to meGoodFuck off
>>215007038NTA but nah, /a/ is shit. Liking smash bros doesn't mean I want to ever hang out with the smelly trogs that play it
>>214997737Eren is one of my favorite characters he goes from whiny and annoying to unimaginably based. The scene where him and Zeke are going through the past, and Eren is telling his dad to kill the Reiss family was peak. You realize at that very point, Eren orchestrated everything. I’m not going to lie, I originally dropped AoT when Eren first transformed, but I ended up rewatching it later and it’s now one of my favorites. I would also say the second battle of Shinganshima was one of the first time I watched an anime and felt dread. I didn’t think anyone was going to make it. The cherry on top was Levi going super sand lesbian and butt fucking Zeke with his BAc (BIG ACKERMAN COCK).
