How is Wicker Man (1973) a horror movie? I’m 30 minutes in and nothing even remotely scary has happened. It’s like a British folk revival musical
>>
Keep pretending and you'll end up stuck that way.
>>

They also found the silly walking man the funniest thing ever so there's that.
>>
the scene where Cage gets bees dumped on his head is peak terror.

It's about secret societies hiding in plain sight, Folk Horror.
>>
>>215034719
Because you're a zoomer so desensitized to everything your dick don't even work anymore.
>>
>>215034719
oi, you got a loicense for that virgin sacrifice?

And That's a Good Thing

I’ve seen horror movies meant to be scary but where the scares didn’t work. In this case, it’s simply a lack of scares. No attempts at scares are made.
>>
>>215034913
Maybe it’s good, but it’s not a horror movie.
To be a horror movie, you need at least one scare.
>>
You have to be a spiritual person to be scared of a movie wherein somebody's spirituality is being attacked. This type of person was much more common when the film was made. Now far more people will find themselves on the pagan's side than the Christian cop's.
>>
>>215034719
I only seen the Nic Cage remake and only remembering him punching an old lady, 'NOT THE BEES' and the ending. The ending was kinda scary to a degree i think
>>
Over one hour in, we have a scare: they put a creepy burning severed hand in his bed to make him sleep for days. He woke up and pushed it off his bed though. Still, hand was creepy
>>
Looked like the pagans decapitated someone, but it was an immediate fakeout.

>pausing a movie 30 minutes in to shitpost on /tv/

>>215035276
>bro you have to find this movie scary because it’s old bro, it’s a classic that means it’s good
The Exorcist aged well, this movie did not
>>
>>215035290
I didn’t pause it

you have to watch it all the way through

Them dragging him to the wicker man as he screams “oh God, Jesus Christ” is alright as far as scares go. Them cheerily singing Sumer is Icumin In while he burns is darkly funny.
I still don’t think you can call a movie a horror movie if it’s ninety minutes long and only the last five minutes are scary.
I made a 31 movie list for October, a mix of Halloween movies I’ve seen and ones I’ve been meaning to see, and this one is definitely the worst so far. Of course, we’re only five days in

Fucking retard

I know it is classified as folk horror, but part of me thinks horror is maybe misleading, at last how people generally think of it. It is more of a mystery that is trying to create this unnerving atmosphere, with even certain undertone of comedy.
>>
To me it's more of a mystery movie with a scary ending which makes the whole movie scarier in retrospect. Since everyone is used to atheist non-white societies now the movie doesn't seem strange or otherworldly anymore kek.
>>
the kids have never heard of Jesus. they just learn about Christianity as a 'comparative' religion. they will not be saved.

that's a horrifying idea if you're not a psychopath.
>>
the film is less than 90 minutes long. you couldn't finish it, first...?
>>
>>215035515
It’s finished now
>>
>>215035408
If you want the same idea executed with more horror/action without turning into slop then I highly suggest the movie Apostle from a few years back.
>>
>>215035408
Fuck your lame review man, post the list!

faggot monitors his thread to post useless replies. fuck u kill yourself

>>
>>215035029
it's more of a thriller and uncanny movie, basically cuckoo nest but for religions instead of mental hospitals
