>Movies make it look like all hobbits live in these comfy hobbit holes>In the books the hobbit abandoned the holes a long time ago and live in normal houses. Only the super poor live in holes (which aren't comfy hobbit holes but wet, dark holes for poor people) and also the super rich (Bilbo is basically a rich hipster who lives in a hole because it's retro)Movies mog the books so FUCKING hard
>>215036518Nope, that's bullshit.
How did Bilbo keep out the damp without a dampproof membrane, they didn't have the necessary plastics/polymers
>>215036543Elven magic
>>215036518>Literally the very first paragraph of the Hobbit is about how hobbit holes are comfy and good places to liveThe distinction between hole and non-hole hobbits is purely cultural based on hobbit subcultures. Bucklanders generally live in freestanding abodes, like Crickhollow which Frodo was moving to before leaving for Bree in Fellowship of the Ring. Those that live in West Farthing generally lived in Hobbit Holes. I can't remember if there's an exact distinction as to why this is, but I'm sure in the 80 pages of Fellowship that talks about Hobbit culture before Frodo leaves the shire it's explained.

For example when people in america started settling the plains, they built houses from cut sod.
>>215036648I guess that makes sense since Buckland is very wooded and next to the Old Forest
>>215036518This is an actual set from the movie lord of the ringsi spoke to the guy from the movie and he said for $1500 we can actually stay in the hobbit holeI pulled some strings
>>215036747Is that Darcy from Cold Ones
>>215036518>>215036528>Frodo purchased a house in Crickhollow to disguise his true departure from the Shire and journey with the One Ring. The plan was for Frodo to go to Crickhollow to seem like he was simply moving to a quiet life in Buckland, while in reality, he intended to slip away from the Shire to Rivendell. Frodo's friend, Fatty Bolger, stayed behind in Crickhollow, wearing Frodo's old clothes to further the deception and hide Frodo's actual departure from the Nazgûl. why was this not shown in the film?
>>215037001Does Fatty even appear in the movies? he has a very minor role in the books and I don't remember him in the movies at all
>>215037001>Frodo's friend, Fatty Bolger, stayed behind in Crickhollow, wearing Frodo's old clothes to further the deception and hide Frodo's actual departure from the Nazgûl.Can't they magically see the ring in the books? This seems like a DUMB fucking plan
>>215037038sounds like a fatty bolger trilogy is needed
>>215037043>Can't they magically see the ring in the books? This seems like a DUMB fucking planOnly if he wears it and I don't even think that's revealed until he puts it on for the first time. He is never explicitly told this. The plan also seemingly works and is mostly to distract Sauron's spies/snitch ass hobbits.
>>215037001>Okay Fatso, here's the plan. I'm going to go on an adventure while you trick the murderous wraiths who are trying to kill me by pretending to be meHe was a good friend.
>>215037047A prequel trilogy, no lessAnd we'll make him black
>>215037472Fatty was a little bitch who was afraid of the old forest. He said he wouldn't go even if they invited him
>>215037472You're now finally realizing that Frodo was the bad guy all along.
>>215037543IIRC only Sam knew about the plan, but Merry, Pippin and Fatty figured out and came up with that ruse.
