Why does it seem like more and more people here are getting filtered hard recently? Is the collective intelligence dropping that fast? Is there any hope for kinematic discussion that doesn't devolve into /b/-tier "nuh-uh, i can act more retarded than you" posts anymore? Or is the only hope extremely specific and esoteric generals that gather maybe a dozen devoted posters compartmentalized from the rest of the board that devolve into their own general-specific grunts and memes isolated from the rest of the community?

how can you talk about media literacy without mentioning
>starship troopers
>watchmen
>death note
>fight club
>american psycho
>taxi driver
>wolf of wall street
>sopranos

Pretty good list, bur hopefully by now, most of the people who idolize those films understand the underlying satire.

western media is designed to make you retarded.

1. people are rejecting "satire" as a concept entirely, we have re-entered the earnest era part of the societal cycle. look at how people are seething about political assassinations now vs even a couple of years ago. abe vs kirk.
2. there is a collective fatigue about treating cartoony characters as earnest villains that need to be punished. this links back to point 1 but also spreads out into the concept of "why are you fucking with my childhood?"

there is no way to realisitcally "get back" at these multi billion dollar corporations so the only option is to mock these properties relentlessly until npcs think they're "not cool" for supporting them- the only way npcs can be forced into thinking nowadays

>Starship troopers
Both sides of the political spectrum don’t understand it.
>Left wingers think it’s about fascism and sympathizing with bugs
>Right wingers think a multiracial society with feminism is something to aspire to

Would you tell a director or screenwriter who earnestly wants to create a film with subtext and nuance not to bother for a decade or two? Are we to suffer without hope for artistic merit in film until this period of intolerant sincerity fades? Thank god above we (for now, until everything is licensed and withheld) have a catalog of past entertainment to fall back on, but I fear the stagnation will kill this industry until a new form of media rises to answer the call.

Culture war bullshit slop has pretty much been in full force ever since the 2024 election, and it’s usually 3rd world trash posting about it. I’ve been going to other boards recently as I’ve been getting so fucking sick of american politics and the culture war nonsense that surrounds it.
/lit/ doesn’t have as much deviation to culture war slop threads, and you can easily filter them out. Here it’s like 50% of fucking /tv/ at this point. The intelligent posters have long migrated elsewhere.
