Even 1-2% people being shot means tens of thousands were executed. A total of 990,000 Soviet soldiers were condemned to punishment by military tribunals. Some 420,000 of these were sent to punitive units and 440,000 to imprisonment; no fewer than 150,000 were sentenced to be shot. Now, “sentenced to be shot” does not necessarily mean that they were shot but still. The number of German servicemen executed - some 13,000 to 15,000 – was considerably lower. By contrast the French executed 102, the British 40 and the USA executed 146 of their service members. Note that at least for the US 5 were executed after the war. In short, while the Soviets did execute far more of their own soldiers than other countries, yet blocking detachments were rarely used to gun down their own men, instead they usually sent soldiers back to their units and/or front.
