Tron is an experimental avant garde masterpiece
>>215040305Looks gay and nerdshit
>>215040305the part at the end where the sped up traffic is a circuit board reminds us that we're all really just programs
>>215040305>This old movie is actually le avant garde masterpiece. Save it for your 3 hour youtube essay where you act like the world was forever changed when disney made some movie. Try to drive better next time to avoid killing your brother and his best friend.
>>215040387what made them think that color banding looked computery
>>215040305pretty good movie IMHOhow is the new transfer? the last one (bluray) was muddy as heck
>>215040305I thought it was just a fun adventure movie. Didn't know it was so fancy.
>>215040425… how many bits of color do you think were the standard then? Howabout now?Zoomer faggot
>>215040445>Didn't know it was so fancy.it came out 5 years after the first consumer computers (apple ii and trs80) became availableyou bet your ass it was fancy
>>215040509My school had a IIe in our classroom. My favorite game was Moon Patrol.
>>215040560that's a good game, I played the arcade version a few times
Some autist is really trying to make a this a cult following
>>215040593It's because a new sequel is coming out, you retard.
>>215040305>watches a slightly unusual flick>"it's avantgarde!">"it's experimental!">"it's a masterpiece!"
>>215040593Tron has been cult for decades, moron. Why do you think they made Legacy in the first place?
>>215040653No one cared about this gay shit in the 80s, no one cares about it now
>>215040706can't tell if you are a black zoomer or a roastie
>>215040706He won.
>>215040747
>>215040685it was the first movie to feature virtual reality dipshitby definition it's avantgarde
>>215040425you are too dumb to live
>>215040418Lmao you're so mad for no reason, and no one knows who it's even directed at.
>>215040706>No one cares about this franchise that's why they keep trying to revive it with movies and games and Fortnite skins
>>215040560We had some kind of a air hockey game that I can't remember title of that got super crazy with later opponents and Prince of Persia. The latter had a continue system where you were supposed to enter a door based on manual page, but we didn't have the manual, so there was a notebook beside the computer where we wrote what door actually works. I was the first kid to actually beat the game, it's my little achievement in life.
>>215040855I googled and found it it was thishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IiDuwjxtT8
>>215040855>The latter had a continue system where you were supposed to enter a door based on manual pagewasn't it some potions on the ground marked with letters and if u drank the wrong one u died? at least on PC that was the copy protection
> that movie with the kid sex cult then they have a kid give a force blowjob to an undercover police officerAnyone know this movie?
>>215040305Ahead of its time. Legacy was a passing fart.
>>215041037I'm pretty sure it was doors marked with letters on Mac.>>215041046Small World?
>>215040305The video game was even better. They were all futuristic and had a transluscent blue joystick.
>>215041145I’m not sure desu I was hoping others would know the movie
>>215040418It's just shilling (paid marketing) for ares calm down
>>215040305I don't know about that. It was more boring than anything. As cool as the art is, it forced a lot of static backgrounds. You couldn't exactly move the camera too much when every frame needs to through like 7 layers of processing and manual touch ups. So much of that movie is just locked down shots of people talking. This led to a really boring and monotone movie, totally the opposite of what you'd expect from a Disney adventure movie. It's cool, but yeah, a little too early to be fully realized. Not knocking it, just acknowledging it.
>>215041046>we got to make sure u'r not an undercover cop so you'll have to take these drugs, have sex with these beautiful fresh healthy girls of uncertain legal status, and execute these jeets and civil rights activists>in order to prove you are notI don't know that movie but I like the concept
>>215040767Kek always funny when fatties get a dose of reality
>>215040822Lurk more
>>215041701The concept is rather goodI was told a webm of it is posted quite often here
>>215040305>Tron is an experimental avant garde masterpiece>made by DISNEYI'm not saying your argument is wrong, but it's really weird that someone got Disney to green light a weird experimental film like that. Nothing quite like it had been made before. It was using untested technology and was borderline avant-garde, at least for a mainstream film.
>>215043463Why is it surprising Disney tried stuff with CGI or animation? That has been their thing since forever.
>>215043774nta but tron isn't a kids movie in any way shape or form, they've only ever done kids/family movies prior to that.
>>215041690Unfortunately if the computer technology used to create the visuals of Tron had been more advanced, the eerie otherworldliness of the movie would probably have been lost. We currently have computers capable of rendering pretty much anything the imagination can conceive in stunning breadth and detail, and it resulted in a Tron movie that looked like people in black pleather rave costumes walking round a plastic discotheque. There must have been a sweet spot in recent history when computer graphics were bad enough to drive artistic expression without being so good they looked like a poor imitation of real life. Maybe the Kray machines used for 2010 could've done the trick.
>>215040305they shoulda kept these aesthetics instead of going full cgi, woulda been cool
The concept is cool, the execution is terrible because of the limited technology. That’s why the second movie is so much better.
>>215043836hmm that is true. but I suppose it was a step towards what they eventually did with Pixar. they dabbled with cgi with beauty and the beast and black cauldron and these were a few years later
>>215040305i watched tron legacy as a teen and it felt cringe, sterile and soullessmuch later as an adult i watched the original tron and it was cyberpunk kino. i think its extremely underrated and people only associate it with that silly tron cosplay by the fat guy with the pedo glasses.
>>215044645You're right on both counts. Also, anyone born after 1990 wouldn't know what a video game arcade was so the Kurt Russell character made 0 sense to them.
Movie had silent cinema vibes at times.
>>215040305>Tron is an experimental avant garde masterpieceYES
>>215040305A stripper gave me head at my crib last week while this was playing in the background. Literally mind blowing.
>>215045453
>>215040305>TronTroon lol lmao
>experimentalmeaningless word>avant-gardemeaningless word>masterpiecemeaningless wordThis is why I stopped following any media criticism. All just inflated, empty words.
>>215045686Your post is an experimental avant garde masterpiece
>>215043463Lets take the exact same movie but instead of being in English and made by Disney lets make it...I don't know Yugoslavian. It would be on criterion channel as some hidden /surreal/ mind blowing/ underrated masterpiece by a genius director (that no one heard of)
>>215043774Disney tried for Star Wars with Black Hole. I liked black hole but it came out 4 years after Star Wars and looks like its form 1950s (though with better special effects). I don't think it was on purpose as a clever retro throwback but that Disney studio was just old fashioned
>>215045718It's experimental, at any rate.
>>215040560>full colorwhat is this zoomer bs?
Pretty sure Troon is one of those movies stupid people think is smart. Like Ad Astra or the Snyderverse.
>>215045686>meaninglessmeaningless word
>>215040509
>>215046423
>>215040305RIP
>>215040305noit isntIt sucked ass then and it sucks ass now
>>215044081There were, and possibly still are, movies being made, were the computer generated effects, are either not available to the director, or just too expensive, so the effects are done “practically” mimicking what the computer generated effect would, or supposedly would, look like. Tron 2 had a bunch of costumes and other effects done practically, despite these items supposedly existing in a virtual computer generated world. Max Headroom back in the day was literally practical effects, simulating computer generated effects.
>>215046608$1,300 in 1984, is somewhere between $3,700 and $28,000 nowadays, and probably closer yo the latter, or at least around half that, so $14,000.
Didn’t Moebius work on this movie?
>>215043463>>215043836seems people keep forgetting The Black Hole from 1979, also by Disney.
>>215046458its a kids movie
>>215047867
>>215040305>experimental Yes>avant gardeehh>masterpiece not even close. it was a hodgepodge of loosely related graphic imagery with a very limited script attempting to tie it all together.I will give it this much: the costumes were far superior in the original Tron than they were in Legacy.
>>215046458You sound gay and retarded
