How did the YA adaptation genre go from #1 to completely disappearing seemingly overnight? Usually genres die a slow death.>but the new Hunger Games movie!Retro revival.
the divergent movies killed it
>>215041735One of my colleagues was on “sick leave” for a weeks. Turns out she was actually completely distraught to the point of suicidal ideation because the publisher that published her YA book series folded, and now the final book in the series won’t be published. Her book seemed to be a decent seller, getting multiple printings and being available in “real” stores. Of course, she still has a day job and the publisher went out if business so it’s probably not very lucrative, but she spent years crafting and promoting that series, taking it to conventions, etc. I feel really bad for her. She’s a completely different person since this announcement. She says self publishing is a “death sentence in the eyes of possible future publishers”, is this accurate?
