This never happened in the book. Why does Peter Hackson think he's qualified to rewrite Tolkien's work?
>>215041836The kino will be remembered long after the books are forgotten and dust. Deal with it, /lit/ranny
It was cool and helped explain the story so I'll allow it.
>>215042194It created a gaping plothole by showing Elrond be completely unaffected by the ring.
when you make a movie it's usually a smart idea to show the end location near the beginning
>>215042226>plothole

>>215042262Yes. In the book Elrond told Isildur he thought keeping the ring was a bad idea. He never took Isildur into the forge or told him to destroy it. If he had he'd have just ended up trying to take the ring for himself.
Where are the orc women? How are new orcs born?
>>215042226the ring takes time to affect some people, like Sam and even Frodo to an extent. It gradually corrupts them. And Elrond was almost Gandalf-tier powerful, and Gandalf wasn't really affected either.
>>215042302kek but I think I saw this with more accurate captions of >Don't cast it into the water! Don't destroy it!
>>215042398kys
>>215042407If you'd read the book, faggot, you'd know that in the forge the ring's influence was absolute. Even Galadriel's phial couldn't shine there. You couldn't just walk in there without being dominated by the ring. And being more powerful is exactly what made Elrond and Gandalf more susceptible to the ring's influence to begin with.
Jackson's writing here is actually way better for a movie script...especially for Aragons redemption arc. Sure book Isildur just kept the ring because he wanted to study/discuss it but he got ganked from behind by Orcs for double damage and he rage-quit and lost his loot in a pond that just sat there for like 5 patches until some lol 3 free-week noob found it by accident and became a sock shitting murder hobo for like the entire expansion.
