In the future they are able to grow tobacco in space and that means its free of the radioactive particles the tobacco plant absorbs from the ground.
this means the tobacco is now for the most part cancer free and future medicine deals with the rest of the issues
this has caused a resurgence in smoking because why not smoke if its no longer bad for you
