Giving the alien and predator backstories is what killed the franchise’s
It sucks when you make a thread, comeback later and no one responded
No it didn't. The 90s games, comics, and books were great. Letting a hack helm a PG-13 version killed it.
>>215049862If you keep making more movies you have to at some point expand on their stories. What do you do? More and more movies like the first one?The only thing that you can still add to the Predator franchise that is new is a movie where humans are taken to their home planet and we see how their home planet is. I know there is a little scene of it but I mean seeing more than that. And the Alien franchise is even more difficult to add something new because they are just like animals that don't have home planet or anything we haven't seen already. That's why Prometheus was the only thing new they could add, seeing how they were created, who created them and why.
>>215050667have this image to cheer you up some anon
>>215049862>>215050758Continuing...Plus, if you think about it, the first 4 Alien movies are Ripley's story so they have a reason. After that if you want to make more movies, what else do you do? Just another crew in a ship and the same as the first movie? People would get bored of that quickly.
>>215050758The aliens could've had an interesting home planet before Prometheus and Covenant fucked up that possibility.
>>215050992Like what. They are like animals, they don't built things. They could have like a bugs planet with a lot of them running there but what else?
>>215051040Use your imagination. It's an entire planet. You'd have so many writing possibilities. There could be other species that have adapted to live alongside them. Perhaps even some sort of a civilization that either controls the xenos, or lives in fear of them.
>>215049862AVP is more canon than Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection
>>215051082No other specie could live with them in a planet, that wouldn't make any sense. How are you going to stop hundreds of millions if not billions of them?Control them how exactly?
>>215051119>How are you going to stop hundreds of millions if not billions of them?>Control them how exactly?Sci-fi technology beyond human understanding, biomechanical wonders, some sort of weaponry, tech that shields from xeno senses, etc. You could write any number of different answers to these. Why do you lack imagination?
>>215051181That would add nothing to the story. So there is some sort of hyperadvanced dudes living in forts while the rest of the planet is full of xenos... and?I like the thing about the engeneeris creating them as a weapon to destroy planets when they don't like their creation and then it turning on them.
>>215051232>That would add nothing to the story.Depends entirely on the themes and overall quality of a hypothetical script.>So there is some sort of hyperadvanced dudes living in forts while the rest of the planet is full of xenos... and?I'm just throwing out random ideas to show you that it's not impossible to figure out things to find on a xeno planet. I'm not writing a script here.
>>215051040>Space jockey has a biotech ship>biotech has biological problems like cancer>jockey tries to fight a cancer growing in his ship>cancer takes over the ship's bio fabricators>creates xenos to kill jockey and create a new form able to spread to new hosts and environments
Eventually they will merge Alien, Predator and Blade Runner and make a whole universe about it, showing Earth and mixing replicants vs aliens vs predaotrs. That's the last thing they can do to add something new to those franchises. We will see a flashback of Roy Batty fighting in other planets or his model remade to new wars or something like that and you know it.
>>215049862Aliens is a great film on its own terms, but it destroyed the potential of the series by cementing the Xeno as a dumb space bug that can be easily killed by guns. In the original film, we saw so little of the Xeno that a sequel could've expanded on its intelligence and abilities in interesting ways.
>>215051040>They are like animals, they don't built thingsThey build nests and shit. Is an ant colony not a functional civilisation?
>>215050667Make a thread isn't shit next time?
