Superman had a lame plot and just wasn’t very interesting. The Nolan Batman movies were good and memorable while Superman felt like generic CGI superhero slop. I watched it with my kids and was bored most of the time, dreaded the CGI slop and thought the plot was flimsy. If it was braindead and entertaining that would be fine, I can enjoy that.It isn’t optimism vs. cynicism here it’s just quality.

I think there can be a happy medium between the two without resorting to one extreme or the other, but modern filmmakers seem incapable of even attempting to do this.
