rear projection TV's are closer to a theater experience and they shouldn't have died out.

I'd rather a nice RPTV and laserdisc than QLED and streaming 4K

the in built speakers were also better than most surround sound systems/soundbars

That center channel placement is brutal. Mine is below tv which isn't ideal but I have it angled up a bit at least. Can't do too much in my stand though because the center channel is massive. Pioneer was top shit back in the day as far as big box stuff goes

We had pic related, the speakers were amazing. had a subwoofer and virtual surround sound. we would hear sounds coming from outside of the room but it was coming from the TV.

Wrong, unc. My ipad air m3 has a superior quality display and sound all in a compact package so I can watch anything anywhere.

My dad ruined our rear projection TV while moving. the RGB lenses moved and fucked up the convergence.
