Neither. Light would have no reason to suspect Dexter and Dexter would have no way to actually investigate Light. If they did find out about each other then in classic Dexter fashion they would see each other as fellow travelers and not fight.

Let’s pick the scenario where Light has the Death Note but no shinigami eyes:

All that Dexter has to do is to find proof that Light is Kira. Unlike L he doesn’t need to present that proof to anyone but himself, as he will then simply put Light on his table rather than turning him in.

If Light found out Dexter was investigating him he would simply write Dexter Morgan in his notebook…. And it wouldn’t work.. why’s that? Because Dexter’s original name is Dexter MOSER. Light would need to find out Dexter’s backstory. If Debrah was able to do it, Light could do it too…. It would be a close one, and Dexter COULD win, but my moneys on Light

Hate myself for answering this slop thread but:

I don't think Dexter would be on Light's radar as he is not a registered killer, Light isn't doing deep dives to investigate criminals, he is killing the ones already discovered to spook out would-be's.
If Dexter existed within the Death Note universe, it's likely that L would have been called in to help with the Bay Harbour Butcher investigation and he would've caught Dexter within minutes because Dexter is fucking retarded and leaves evidence everywhere and L is a superhuman genius.
If Dexter didn't get caught by L, then he would be frustrated that all of the serial killers are getting wiped out before he can get to them, which would lead him to probably just kill innocents in Miami and eventually wind up on the Death Note. I don't think there is any serious scenario where Dexter flies to Japan to join L's team and kill Light.
