It’s everything that you’d want in a Guillermo del Toro adaption of Frankenstein. The production design and cinematography are lush and grandiose, with a twisted gothic vibe that’s simultaneously gorgeous, enrapturing, and absolutely horrifying. Oscar Isaac’s performance is over the top in a way that the film demands, and he understands and executes the director’s vision expertly. The makeup work is superb and Jacob Elordi in particular is unrecognizable. The momentum of the film’s narrative is occasionally disrupted by a flashback structure, but those scenes are also sumptuous. The score here is a perfectly fitting as well.

Underlining complaint I’ve seen from critics it’s all style and very little story which makes it very boring with its two and a half hour runtime

That just screams we have confidence in this film doesn't it

Nothing to do with it. Netflix does not give a fuck about putting their shit in theaters. They’re only do it it so can qualify for awards

>two and a half hour runtime
Can someone reign in these fatheaded directors already

Is it gay and woke and lame and designed as a "apologize!" psyop against white men like The Shape of Water?

Totally organic post.

Crimson Peak exposed his worst tendencies. He's a kid lost in candy (costume/props) store doing Anglo stories.

Mebbe /tv/ is attracting the gay boomer crowd these days.
